Today, we see a few more chapters of Sleethr's Whisper - Chapters 36-39... leaving just one more block (of about 90 pages) for the final release of that story in canon format.

And, if you look in the Generation 2 section of our Content menu, you'll see a little article about the Gen 2 Project, introducing the authors and the characters along with some other important information. I'm looking forward to seeing the forums discussions on the new characters and what Whateley will be like in 2016. I know I'm not alone.

I'd like to start this week's 'news' release by offering some praise and cheers and ask that everyone take a little time and thank some of our industrious Fan Fic Authors who added their time and effort into the process of getting some of our story pile transferred over. While its not an ideal setup for it, they are transferring in the old stories, handling the basic conversion editing, as fan fiction and then I'll convert them over to their proper canon category when I publish them officially to the site. Have a few extra hands working on this process could bring it from a few months worth of work down to something that we get finished in just a few weeks. But of course, they're also working on publishing their own work while the canon teams do the same.

I've been promising an announcement about the Gen2 team for some time now, wanting to give them some time in the limelights and visibility after hiding in the shadows plotting and being reborn as a cabal, but delaying it because I've wanted it to be tied to the arrival of the first stories. Well, I think we're actually close enough to do that. Next week's Monday content release will share some publicity with the G2 team reveal. At the moment, I think we are on schedule to release the first G2 story section somewhere around the Christmas/New Years holiday. The full first story is, I believe, likely to be in three parts and is told by one of our new authors with contributions from the whole team. The second full story, which we are probably going to release interspersed with the first, will be some additional arrivals from authors who have been around a while. It will also be likely to be in several parts.

But that's next week.

This week, we start to wrap up the Spring Semester of this first school year. And with the end of the school year, comes finals. Specifically, Combat Finals. So here's the first in a batch of tales from the Arenas. I should probably make some wacky joke about Teaching to the Test or No Student Left Behind... but I suppose we all know just how bizarre the idea of applying those things to Whateley Academy would be anyway...

Enjoy E. E. Nalley's "Galatea Debutante" !

While, from the Public perspective, it might have seemed like a pretty slow week on the site development front; a whole lot happened this week here at The Crystal Hall. We kicked off our Fan Fiction Author publication system, which will allow established fan fiction authors to take their completed works out of the forums and get front page and Content section visibility and comments for their stories. While we are probably still a number of weeks from seeing the first of these work their way through the review/edit/review/more edit/review/omg so much editing/review process to meet our publishing approval; we do have three different authors already with submissions and a start in on the process.

In addition to the Fan Fiction front, this is also the first week that we are using the author submission system for new content release; meaning that from this point forward, my part in the Monday release process can be streamlined to an editorial run to check format and a couple clicks of the mouse to toggle the story to officially published. A process, by the way, that can be accomplished at any time/day of the week or month between when the author submits the story and the actual day we're going to run it. What does this mean to you? Well, it means that from this point forward, Our content release is going to happen at five (5:00) p.m. Pacific on Mondays... whether I'm at home, awake, overworked, or not. Unless there's nothing in the system/pipeline... I can't pre-schedule non-existent stories, obviously. :)

For this week specifically? We have some Kayda, from Elrod: "Medicine Girl"
