I was finishing up a marathon of The Boys on Amazon yesterday and was inspired to write this scene .

A karmic cycle of revenge, just orchestrated by a cosmic-level machine...and handed over to a jilted ex-girlfriend in exchange for a few years of servitude (she's a pretty good negotiator, and the outer being doesn't care all that much. Many other projects to run, and the hallways need dusting and sweeping).

True, and he only wrote about it as a way of dealing with the depression that came when he realized he'd gotten old enough that most women were no longer interested.

Most.

While he was mostly known as an adventurer, spy, entertainer, and even scholar during his lifetime, he did have enough of a reputation as an exciting and tender lover that even when he retired to be a secretary and librarian for a friend of his, he still had more than a few ladies willing to find out how true the stories were, apparently.

Mads is more likely an endless source of consternation and woe, but who would you believe: the operator or their surviving supervisors?

Thank you. I try (to please my non-existing fans ;))

Also, I'd guess that the trade in value of that suborbital is through the sub-basement. And the sub-sub-basement. And through the ...

The bad news is, yes, there's a new Wilkins at WA in this story. While she was mostly raised by her mom (who nope'd out once she got a better idea of what sort of guy she married), she is definitely Shane's kid.

Luckily for Jobe, she was soon able to foist Mandy off on Paige and Ms Hartford, the latter of whom agreed to block her current choice of codename.

Sadly, yes.

As for Carl, it wasn't so much a case of 'I will throw down my life courageously' as 'Imma so getting back at the fucker who burned me on this deal'. Basically, he was small potatoes as a wizard, but a very good fence of magical goods, though not so good that the usual Wilkins charm wouldn't get him in dutch with one of his more, ah, volatile customers.

This one particular black magician decided that Carl would make a good fall guy for some truly nasty and highly public ugliness. While Carl did fall for the trap, he was competent enough to then monkey wrench the asshole's plans in a spectacular fashion that proved fatal to both of them.

The fact that it a) was in public view, and b) saved a bunch of civilians, didn't even occur to him at the time.

Well, it's a start at getting this finished, I guess. Now let's see if I can keep it up.

If I can, I foresee three-way Brownie catfights in the future for Poe Cottage.

After nearly an hour of wandering, Day passed out

Day, or David, or are you foreshadowing "Day" as their future code name?

It'll be interesting to see how they get off the islands to Whateley. Tūtū Pele isn't known for calmly letting go of those that are hers.
