Hi, I have been following TG fiction for about 30 years (practically pre-internet on BBS'es) and have posted small vignettes and stories on some web sites, newsgroups (and BBS'es) for as long. I am not an author by any means as I am my own greatest critic and delete 95% of what I creatively write.

My personal writing has tended to channel my inner angst (similar in experience to some of Jade's more emotional outpourings) and it leaves me very self-conscious as it is a little too cathartic and close to home.

Personally I am a 55 year old post-surg TS (22 years ago) and just lead a quiet, private life in stealth. My career has led me to do quite a bit of technical writing and public speaking on high technology and the sciences.

I have really enjoyed the Whateley universe and will binge read for 15-20 hours at a time and chase down every character back story. The universe has enough written in it that the interplay between different authors is enjoyable and the styles are complimentary, Unconsciously I have been cataloging all of the obscure movie references that the authors seem to slip in. That must be an inside joke amongst the Gen 1 writers and I recognize your sly whit.

I am sad that the universe seems to be winding down as the original authors disappear and characters are left with unfinished tales. It is as if we will never get to deal with "The Bastard" in a final showdown. (sort of like the real-life version of one we are coping with now).

I do hope that there is a way to re-invigorate the story as it is as if the tale is only half-said.

thanks so much.

Winding down? Hardly!

We have a healthy set of stories taking Gen 1 along and even more coming for Gen2.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

Thanks, I read all of the whateley stuff on FM, BC and I think even an item or two on TGF. I usually also follow back to the authors and then read everything else they have written (leave no stone unturned).

As much as Sara consumes life force I consume the written word; Its a bit of a curse.

Have you read the items here in the workshop? There is a whole boat load more (a small one) there as well. Do you normally comment on what you've read to the author of the work?

Thanks for that lead Annie, no I hadn't read the workshop contents but I will.

I do comment yet I do not b!tch. Usually I offer words of encouragement and appreciation for tickling a few more neurons of my imagination.

I avoid flame wars and if I get dragged in to one I will toss a bucket of water on it or just set it to /ignore and move along.

In order to see the items in the fab-lab you may have to register as an author, it's been so long since I joined that I've forgotten if that was necessary. I'm of course looking for both an editor and a proofreader for my work. I've had some luck with the later but not much with the former as far as that goes....
