  • A Slightly Bent Tale of the Five Fold Court

    ~*~

Once upon a time there was maiden of the Eastern court who was fascinated by those who served the Center Court. They where such strange creatures, nearly blind to the magics around them, so delicate of body, and yet so intelligent and creative when allowed...

She would watch one villages they had set up along one of the beaches, the boundary of her world that she could not cross. She was drawn to a strapping male, primitive in his looks, but still handsome. And oh so clever, a he had taken some of the... what where they called? Ah, trees, that was it! He had taken trees and broken them up and then some how put them together into a platform that let him come out into the East's domain. He was always respectful, making offerings before and after he took fish and other things from the waters, and she wanted badly for him to pull her from the waters and make her his.

The maiden blinked and then smiled as a memory flowed through her mind. With a flick of her fins she dove down deep. Softly she began to sing a song of locating, waiting for the magic to ride the currents. She smiled as she felt the counterpoint of her song being sung back to her to guide her. The return song lead her to the deepest darkest parts of the Eastern Court, the parts that where often over looked by the nobles such as she.

“Come little princess, tell me what you wish?” a voice purred from the shadows.

“I...” the maiden paused her stomach churning.

“Come child, I won't bite.” the speaker grinned with sharks teeth as she moved into the light. Her appearance caused the maiden to gasp as the witch's form which had started out like hers, she assumed, was warped and more then a little scary.

“Iwatchthehumans ontheshore. Iwantto... to...” the maiden shivered as she tried to give voice to her wish. “Thereisamale...”

“Ah, you want to gain his attention. But dear, I know that maidens of our kind have taken those they find attractive from the other courts, but they do not last in our court.” the witch mused.

“I know. I want to join him in his court instead of bringing him to mine.” the maiden said softly as she flicked her fins. “I want to be like him from here down. I want to be like him in here.” she waved to where her smooth flesh met her tail, and then touched her chest near her gill slits.

“Ah... now that is an interesting wish. And a most dangerous one. I can do it, but the transformation will be most painful. And it will cost you.”

“I am willing to take the risk, and pay what you wish.” the maiden said raising her chin, causing the witch to smirk.

“Very well. I need a piece of your fascination. With it I can create a link between the two of you which will give you what you want.”

The maiden's hand went to her breast and then to her hair from which she untangled a bit of dark hair she had plucked from her human's head one of the few times he had fallen into her domain. She wanted him, but she wanted him to come to her willingly, not by accident, so every time that had happened she had put him back on the shore.

“Oh, you have something already? Well we can get started as soon as we get close to the border.”

“Why can't we do it here?” the maiden asked puzzled.

The witch gave her an 'are you dense?' look. “Once the spell is cast and run it's course you won't be of the Court's element any more and it will turn against you.”

“Oh.” the maiden said, realizing that the witch meant she would return to the sea until she was reborn from the foam and bubbles. Or maybe not if she was no longer of the Element... how did the other courts return to their Element?

“Take me to the location child.” the witch prompted, nudging the maiden with a tentacle that left the maiden feeling dirty and sick.

“Yes'um.” she said before leading the witch as close to her human's village as they could get.
