  • Rough of Prologue

He yawned, blinked and rubbed his eyes as he stepped out the front door of his home. He was dreaming he realized knowing full well he should be seeing snow roughly 75 paces from his home where the effect that kept the area within warm year-round and kept biting insects out ended. Instead the forest in the peak of spring stretched out as far as he could see. He also recognized the improbable site of the person squatting next to the bubbling creek that flowed lazily throughout his yard. Not delaying, equally surprised, concerned and curious at his presence he quickly closed the distance as the figure stood and turned at his approached. The being before him was imposingly tall. Blond hair that hung heavily down his back tied in a thick braid held together at the end with a thick leather strip. Two pointed ears stuck out atop his head the space where a normal persons ears sat curiously empty.

His wore simple leather pants that stopped just below the knees and a black leather vest that left his chest and stomach bare. Over sized hands and feet, a curious combination of a humans hand and a cats paw. All of which ended in sharp claws which could be extended to be used as devastating weapons though the ones in the feet didn't retract as far as the hands. Black fur covered his arms and legs starting at the elbows and knees saved for the right arm which boasted brilliantly white fur who's color carried down even to the claws of that hand.

A tail swayed idly behind the creature, surprisingly strong and half again as long as his legs. He was an exact copy of himself save for some noticeable differences. Where he had fetlocks that hung from his arms and legs, thin stands of hair that depicted age on a were-cat like a beard does on a human. The being before him had flames that waved lazy in the slight breeze not even producing any scents or smoke. While Tarrin's eyes where green and slighted like a cat that glow from within that flashed brighter when marking an angry were-cat, the being before him had pools of deep green light the most obvious sign of it's divine nature. There was one feature that Tarrin Kael of the were-cat's and Tarrin Kael Elder God of Pyrosia and that was the pair of wings that the two usually kept hidden within twin pools of fire on their backs. Wings that gave off the image of feathers colored like flames but were made of living fire. Solid objects who's size and shape could be changed at will.

Destiny or Fate had come calling and he'd been chosen to answer. Completely against his will in the beginning but he had to admit, the rewards were everything that was promised and more. But it was a maddening series of events that even included having his soul split in two, to forever separate himself from divinity he never wished to have. And the result of that stood before him now. Beginning with the death of a god, after a suicidal adventure in crossroads, ending in the theft of a Solar's Bow, to the eventual defeat and banishing of a Demon Lord from the world of Pyrosia the other half of his soul, containing the entirety of the chaotic divinity bestowed on him by the Fire-staff, had been joined to the All of Pysoria, forming the new Elder God of that plane.

“You're looking well Tarrin,” the god spoke in that strange voice gods seemed to use. As if there were hundreds of voices, all speaking in perfect harmony sounding as if each word was meant to be sung.

Tarrin just snorted at the comment, “and you don't look overworked,” he said causing the god to smile showing his white teeth the fangs of which were longer and pointier.

“Things are moving along as they should,” he said cryptically “But it's a loose end of that war that just came to my attention. A spirit came home to rest, but what was strange is that she'd been on another plane.”

Now that bit of news surprised him a bit. The way he'd said it hinted that the woman wasn't one of the World Walkers as the group back on Pyrosia liked to call themselves. “OK, I’m curious.”

“During the time when the One's priests were doing their witch hunts for magic users,” he said with disgust. “A young woman managed to stumble onto a gateway while running from a pair of hunters. The thing is she was already injured and bleeding when she went through. She was also very pregnant.”

That bit of news was a shock to Tarrin, who's very upbringing and were-cat nature gave children a special place in his heart. One of the few things that could pierce threw the feral nature that came with being a were-cat.

“She asked, no she begged me to find her daughter and make sure she was OK. She was five by the time I found her, adopted by a man and woman and raised in a little suburb. She even has dog,” he said wistfully as if regretting what was to come.

“This sounds like the perfect part for a but,” Tarrin said starting to walk the is godly double. A widening route that would take them past Kimmie's tower which sat empty, since she went off on some errand with Phandebrass, which was probably consisting of reminding the crazy wizard where his pen was and keeping him from walking off a cliff into a volcano.

“The child was to be a Druid,” at seeing the lack of understanding on the mortal's face he asked. “Why is it that a Druid can feel a child at the moment of conception?”

“Because they make contact with the All,” he responds not getting what the other was trying to say.

“That's right, when she was conceived she made touched the All of Pyrosia but she was born on another world.” Seeing the recognition on the others face he continued. “To add an even stranger twist is that her mother was an Elemintalist. She's been sickly since birth, her mother dieing just days after she was born, but her bodies giving out. It's been struggling for so long its finally giving out.”

Tarrin knew how important it was for a Druid to stay in contact with the All. And the All of one plane was NOT the same as one from another. He remembered the feeling of absence, the draining away of a warmth you'd taken for granted was there. How the brilliantly annoying bug of a friend Sarraya managed to create a necklace, what she jokingly dubbed Essence of Sennadar, that gave her a miniscule connection to the All of their home. Not enough to use any druidic magic but enough that the tiny blue fairy wouldn't get sick and eventually die. “What are you gonna do?”

“Well, that's were you come in,” he said with a chuckle. “I want a drop of your blood.” he said stopping to face his mortal self.

“My blood!? What would you, NO! NO! NO! Hell No! You'll will not turn her, how could you of all people want to put someone through that?”

“And you of all people should know that sometimes there just isn't a better choice.”

“Why not just bring her back to Pyrosia? She should be fine then.”

“They may not be her birth parents but they love her as if she were. And she has a home there, and what good would it be to save her body and kill her heart. And no, I won't just take the parent's too,” he said giving the mortal a grin. “She'll be an Avatar Tarrin, and before you say anything there are Avatars and there are Avatars. She'll be my Sui'kun and my Druid, I'll use the the connection to create a bridge to the All of Pyrosia so no matter where she goes, no matter what she does, she'll never be alone. Her path is not like ours brother, she is not mi'shara, her path is her's to decide,” he said putting a paw on the others shoulder. “And I will always be with her. Now, will you give me the blood or will I have to beat it out of you?”

Below here has yet to be changed, sry still working on it. let me know what you think of the new prologue. Thanks

    Chapter 1

    Hey I found her!

A portal opened in a dark bedroom, swirling waves of blue. A tall figure stepped out and quietly moved to the sleeping figure. I don't like doing this.

I know, but it's the only way to save her life.

    Yeah but at what cost?

Don't be like that! I'll be here to take care of her. She wont have to go through what you did, I wont let her. Now pop out those wings, give her a little nibble and lets gets to work. I feel like my ass is hanging in the wind.

wings erupted from the figures back, encircled the bed and the room was filled with light and a feral scream of pain that no-one heard outside the home. As the glow faded the bedroom door burst open revealing a man and woman, both with handguns, which were yanked from them by invisible hands which also seemed to freeze them in their places and they watched helplessly as the an impossibly tall figure walk through a glowing blue hole in the room which winked out of existence once a long slim tail passed through. They quickly ran over to the bed gasping at what they saw.

    *_*

“Oh god, I’m gonna be sick.”

no need to be so formal child.

“Eeep!” *CRASH!* “Ow, ow, ow, oh god, oh god.” no time to worry about the voice in my head I gotta get to the toilet. I'll skip the part where parts of my soul were forcefully ejected from my body by way of mouth but lets just say. Ew gross. My eyes were all blurry when I tried to stand but that didn't stop me from seeing that the hand that I used to flush the toilet wasn't mine. “Oh shit!”

    “Honey”

“Ah! Don't scare me like that.”

“Just try to stay calm honey.”

I know she was trying to keep me calm but I can say with all honesty that after I looked into the mirror nothing else she said registered to my brain. Needless to say something was very different here. First thing I noticed were the eyes. Bright green and slitted. Like a cat, I thought which was confirmed when I saw the white furred ears pointing out the top of my head. And my hair was way longer than it used to be and jet black.

I looked down at my hands a feet and saw that they were large and furred with pointed claws sticking out. I felt hands grab mine and turn me to face Kathrine, my god mother and the woman who took me in when my mom died. “Everything is gonna be alright.” OK I laughed. I laughed hard. 'I don't get it?' “Aunt Kathy?”

“Yes dear?” you know her stroking the hair on my hand felt amazing and I couldn't help purring.

“I think I’m hearing voices in my head.”

“It's OK honey, we'll figure it out. Come on, you must be hungry, you've been asleep for three days.”

    “WHAT!”

“Alex! Try to stay calm! Lets go get some food and we'll talk.” I could feel my stomach scream at me and I couldn't slow my feet if I wanted to. I felt a strange shifting above my ass and I looked over to see a long thin tail sticking out from under my sleep shirt and I noticed that my butt was showing. I was holding my shirt down when we got into the kitchen and I ran to sit down sitting on my tail in the process. Note to self, be careful when sitting.

A plate of delicious looking food appeared before me. Kathy's husband Jason was a great cook and when those smells hit me I wasn’t sure if it was my stomach growling like a wild animal or me. I think he said something, but I couldn't hear anything over my roar of my stomach and couldn't stop myself from eating if I wanted to. Four full plates of bacon, eggs and homemade waffles now found myself pressed against Kathy on the living room sofa with Jason sitting in his usual chair.

We talked for hours. I was surprised to realize I wasn't even bothered by the thought of being a mutant. I was even more surprised when I felt tiny pricks on my leg and when I looked down there was a tiny kitten covered in fluffy white fur and it was climbing my leg.

“We found him next to you in bed. He woke up this morning so we were hoping that meant you'd wake up soon.” Kathy told me petting the cat and I couldn't help doing it myself.

    “So what now?”

“After we found you we called our lawyer. We have a travel waver for you, your bags are packed and when your ready we'll head out.”

    “What! Where are we going?”

“Alex, stay calm. We live three blocks from the biggest H1 clubhouse in Kentucky. How long do you think it'll be before our house is on fire? Jason's already put in for a transfer to a State Park in New Hampshire and I've been thinking of opening a new restaurant and there is as good as any.”

“New Hampshire! We have to move to New Hampshire?”

“We'll it's near the school you'll be going to. It's called Whateley Academy, it's a school for mutants, so they'll help you learn all about your powers and you'll be safe from the MCO and H1. And we'll never be far away.”

She sent me back to my room to make sure I had all my personal belongings. Movers were supposed to show up at the end of the week to box everything up and move it to storage near Berlin. We already had an apartment ready for us and a meeting with a realtor in two days. I made sure all my things were in my bag and I took a last look at my room. I'd only been here a year, but it had been an emotional year. My mother died of cancer and Kathy and Jason took me in. Kathy was my mom's best friend and she was given custody of me in the will. It was two months later when we found out I had cancer to but it had spread so far surgery wouldn't have helped.

We were soon in the car and headed for the airport. We had tickets on a direct flight to Berlin that left in four hours so we hurried through the MCO checkpoint where I learned for the first time that Jason was a US Marshal. I mean the hits just keep on rolling. We spent several hours in a restaurant where I put away six burgers not even concerned with how much I was eating. One restroom break and some line standing we were soon on the plane and in the air.

    *_*

“Where am I?” I was in a clearing in the middle of a forest. Everything was quiet except for the creek that was running through it. Sun light was piercing through the treetops and the air felt warm but not stifling. The perfect summer day. Across the stream a figure stepped out from the trees. Tall and powerful, a male version of myself except his fur and hair where flame red. Tan pants that stopped below the knees and a black leather vest that left his chest and stomach bare.

“We are inside your dreams little one. We have some things to talk about and here would be best. Come sit, there's not much time.” Next came a fantastical story about another world being overrun by demons and an ancient order of magicians set to stop them. He told me that some managed to flee through gateways that led to other worlds and I’m a descendant of them. That somehow, after my mother died, her spirit was taken to that plane and she begged the goddess there to help me.

“But what can you do? Nothing can cure cancer.”

“Child, you're already cured.” he then told me about myself. That yes I was a mutant, an avatar and he was my spirit. But I was also a were-cat and it was the pseudo magical healing that healed me when I transformed. That my senses were heightened, that I was stronger, faster and I could learn how to do magic. “It's time for you to wake up now, I'll always be here,” he said tapping my forehead before tapping me on the nose which made me giggle. “You just have to call.”

    *_*

I woke up when Kelly shook me and I was quiet as we left the plan and got our bags. Rental car in hand we were soon on our way to the hotel we'd be staying at.

“How you feeling? You've been pretty quiet, anything you want to talk about?” I shook my head no and kept looking out my window. “things will work out Alex, we'll get through this like everything else.”

After we checked in and put our stuff away we went to this busy diner who had the best tasting pizza I’d ever had. I'll tell you one thing about having enhanced taste-buds This pizza made me purr with each bite. And soon I was alone in my room, separated from Kathy and Jason by a single door. A quick shower using more shampoo than I’m used to left me in a long T-shirt that left my butt cold thanks to my tail. Normally I have all kinds of problems going to sleep in strange places. Hell, it was three months before I could sleep OK at Kathy and Jason's. No such problems tonight.

    *_*

Stepping into the same clearing I found who I now knew as Kaedos. He was laying on his stomach, his tail waving lazily above him. A beam of sunlight shone through the trees right on him and it looked so warm and inviting I rushed over and joined him. “So what am I supposed to do?” We'd been in that same spot for what seemed like hours not saying a word. Just basking is the warmth of the sun watching some bees go from flower to flower.

“Do? What do you mean?” he said rolling to his back putting his hands behind his head.

“Well, your a god right? If I’m your avatar, doesn't that mean I gotta go out and vanquish evil and stuff? Hey! Stop laughing!”

“Child, you can do what ever you want. I'll be here for you no matter what.”

What's a girl to say to that?
