  • What better way to break the ice in a brand new forum than a forum game?

This is an Alphabet Game (i.e. I'll start by posting something starting with A, the next person B, the next C and so on until either it fizzles out or we reach Z, at which point if anyone's still playing we start another round) - with the topic "Things you'll find on campus" (so no staff, students, familiars, families, visitors or wildlife [that includes your squirrels, Anna!]). It can be mundane (e.g. a broom [probably not of the besom variety!]) or something you definitely wouldn't find elsewhere (e.g. a broken PFG left littering the ground rather than disposed of safely).

    A - Area 77

Okay, I'm afraid that I have to call foul on this one. We're supposed to stating objects (and apparently places...) ON campus, not naming the campus itself. :P

I am not verbose, I speak and write concisely, using a minimum of words, so that others may read what I write in a quick and meaningful manner. I mean, seriously, that I would never just keep typing adding nothing of content just for the joy of seeing what I write. That would be rude and annoying to people that wish to quickly go through what is posted in these forums.

TL:DR: I am not very verbose.

Only fair that I call foul on this one too, since the original post specified that the game didn't include people.

Ibi, I'm pretty sure the idea with this second round is that you have to use alliteration to double the letter. So "Detonating Food" doesn't fit, though something more specific like "Detonating Doughnuts" fits the bill quite nicely. ;) :P

    FOUL!!!

This is round two, which requires double letters (ie: AA, CC, EE, etc.)

So let's see some alliteration here! :P

    ... . . -.- / .--- ..- ... - .. -.-. . .-.-.- / .-.. --- ...- . / -- . .-. -.-. -.-- .-.-.- / .-- .- .-.. -.- / .... ..- -- -... .-.. -.-- / .-- .. - .... / -.-- --- ..- .-. / --. --- -.. .-.-.-

Ibi, I'm pretty sure the idea with this second round is that you have to use alliteration to double the letter. So "Detonating Food" doesn't fit, though something more specific like "Detonating Doughnuts" fits the bill quite nicely. ;) :P

Thus J is not valid as all others are using AA, BB, CC... etc.

LOL, decided to beat me to it this time, huh Ibi?

    ... . . -.- / .--- ..- ... - .. -.-. . .-.-.- / .-.. --- ...- . / -- . .-. -.-. -.-- .-.-.- / .-- .- .-.. -.- / .... ..- -- -... .-.. -.-- / .-- .. - .... / -.-- --- ..- .-. / --. --- -.. .-.-.-

ZZZzzzzz ZZZzzzz - what should happen at night time!

So, anyone up for Round 3?

Triple alliteration would probably be going too far, so as we haven't yet exhausted the number of things that can be spotted on campus, how about going back to single letters, but with the catch of avoiding anything contributed to date (including duplicate entries)? Don't forget that as well as architectural features, there's also soft and hard landscaping, not all cottages are sitting on eponymous hills and there are probably lots of fixtures and fittings that haven't been mentioned (e.g. the various ways Security keep tabs on the students' locations) - yup, I'm trying desperately not to name anything specific to avoid falling foul of my own rule!

  • I pray daily that Reverend England will one day see the light, turn away from the cruel harshness of "Black & White". Discover redemption. Discover Reconciliation. Discover ... ambiguity. A new colour. Grey. A continuity of life. The gentle Gospel of moving closer to the light every day. the joy in the small victories, the small changes. Something black that now sees a whiter shade of grey. Something dark that now sees, wishes, strives to be closer to the light. a world where peoples choices are not millstones, but rather learnings, experiences, but small markers on a journey from grey to colours, happiness and light.

  • But I said a letter and a number for the entry, didn't say the letter and number had to align. :pinch: Otherwise we have to think of 26 things which could be connected to a z word on campus.

  • Now what should the next Alphabet Game be? We have done double letters, number and letter, what next? A color and letter! And there are shades of colors for every letter of the alphabet, even z. Just have to look them up.

Yes but are each of yours the size of a volleyball? ;) Big cat needs big balls of yarn, would say basketball sized but she would have little room for anything else then.

2 are, but then 1 mile long skeins of worsted weight ( medium ) yarn does make for a large ball.

  • How about this for the next round? Single letter, but name something you won't find on the Whateley campus. I further propose a special rule for this variant that if the thread goes idle for 24 hours, you are allow to specify things that normally aren't found on the campus, but may be found on certain occasions.

  • Well, if we want to go for double hard, impossibly difficult, ultra finally round, we could do this.

Twenty six words in the sentence, at least once in each word is the letters of the alphabet in order, a in the first word, b in the second, etc. I'll go first.

A bee canoodles delightedly, effortlessly flying gloriously high in joy. Keen, long moments needed often. Preening Queen resting, slumbering, tangled undeterred. Viewed welcomingly, xenophobic yahoos zapped.

OK, so I copped out and made the first letter the one, but you get the idea.
