  • My latest Erinyes adventure, or at least part one of it, The Untimely Frost has been uploaded to the library section and will be published as soon as Kirsten figures out what I did wrong.

  • It's always a red letter day for me when there is a new Erinyes story, I really like reading about the antics those girls get up to. This is a good starting point which gives some insight into how the selection and processing for the girls works. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the story posted. Thanks EE.

  • It's a really enjoyable story so far EE... I, unfortunately, never read much of the earlier Erinyes stories. I read a newer one a short while back and really enjoyed what I saw but didn't have time then to dive into hunting up the old stuff... I'll definitely have to after reading this.

  • OK. Let me see... there aren't that many Erinyes stories published, so here's the first half of the list (forum software complains that there are too many links):

    1. The Wicked Flee by Bek D. Corbin.
    2. Eurydice by Maggie Finson
    3. Debt of Conscience by E.E. Nalley
    4. A Ride on the Wild Side by Bek D. Corbin

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • And the second half:

    5. Euryale Dirae Part 1 by Joe Gunnarson (note: unfinished story)
    6. The Sins of Kate Elder by Starwolf -- this one was in the old Whateley forums, we really should migrate it to the Library. I have a copy if needed.
    7. Whom Gods Destroys by E.E. Nalley
    8. Chain of Custody by Bek D. Corbin

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • So, other than your squee, what did you think of it Sir Lee?

Let's do that. I'll take responsibility for making the 'call' .. if Starwolf wants to smack me around, he knows where to find me. :)

  • So, looking at the list there is only three stories here that are not already hosted on whateley.net:
The Wicked Flee by Bek D. Corbin.
Debt of Conscience by E.E. Nalley
and The Sins of Kate Elder by Starwolf

If Bek and E. E. Nalley want to send me copies of their stories, I'll happily do the conversion to get them up, and Sir Lee, if you could send me a copy of the Starwolf story from the old site, I'll put that up as well.

  • My copy, as usual, has been formatted to my tastes. But given that stories posted in the old forums tend to be... well... plaintext, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
But I do believe somebody has a fairly-complete archive of fanfics from the old forums. It's probably there somewhere... if it helps, the original URL was
    crystalhall.org/chboards3/index.php?t=ms...goto=82580#msg_82580

As for the Untimely Frost... well, so far it is an interesting flashback/origin story with new insights about the Erinyes recruiting process, but... well, it sorta feels like just the prologue to the main story. There's little if any suspense, for instance, since we know that both Elisa and Veronica will survive for 18 more years. OK, Todd and Bridget are at risk of becoming redshirted in the op, which would probably be traumatic for Elisa, but not for the reader, since they have barely been developed. I'm still wondering if the "main plot" will be the op, or that will be just part of the flashback before jumping to a present-day main plot that was sparked from the death of Veronica and/or something Elisa realizes when reminiscing.
So far I like it, but I really am waiting for a more complete picture.

Well, things will pick up in part 2. Among other plot developments we will meet Elisa's grandfather, the patriarch of the Diaz clan; Hector Sanchez Diaz.

And of course, as amazing as Elisa is her grandfather is truly spectacular. After all, he is the most interesting man in the world…

  • If anybody is interested... as I routinely convert stories into e-books for reading offline, I got into the hobby of creating covers for them too. So I found some interesting artwork on the Web, cleaned up the background a bit, loaded it into the Cover Generator plugin for Calibre... and this was the result:

  • *Wipes repeatedly attempting toclear mist from eyes.* Danged! Allergies! Sir Lee… That is absolutely beautiful! I am touched beyond words.

And on that note my dear friends I have a wonderful announcement! I spoke with Joe Gunnarsson today, who not only gave me permission to post what I have a part two of his Erinyes story, but he had lost it himself and now that I have sent it back to him promises to have the story finished shortly!

  • Before someone gets overenthusiastic in praise:
1: I did *not* make the actual artwork. The original is linked in the message above.
2: I mostly removed a dark wall on the upper left (so the title would fit better), extended the pic a bit upwards (to have more room for the title, and -- secondarily -- to get the pic proportions to the Golden Ratio) and redid the "sky" background gradient (because it was MUCH easier to rip it out and do it anew than to extend the existing one seamlessly). The main parts of the picture are untouched. And then I added the text.
    3. I DO NOT own the rights to the pic. I guess that it's all right for personal use, but NOT for resale. Which, by the way, is how it goes with the story itself... In fact, I was a bit jittery about redistributing this one, even in such a restricted medium as this forum... but considering that I had found the picture from a fourth- or fifth-part reposting, resizing and otherwise mangling of the original, and that it took me a bit of work to track down the author, I guess I'm not that much worse than them. At least I gave attribution.
    4. This was not intended as a cover for this particular story; rather, I made it as a template for all the Erinyes stories. (I had an earlier template using a different pic, but changes in Calibre meant that new covers based on that template became... well, quite ugly. So I had to make a new one).

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Sir Lee sent me a copy of The Sins of Kate Elder by Starwolf, and its now on the site for all to read again.

(Still ready and waiting if Bek D. Corbin or E.E. Nalley want to send my way their stories).
