Interesting setup to have a native tribe team sparing against Whateley's. I expect it will be a as said, a tight match despite Whateley's power.
Modular component harness? THE Modular component harness?!! Wow that brings back memories.
Awww, we don't see the match. Good decision. Going into the details it would require to make it as awesome as it is intended to be would distract from the emotional and reminescing touch of the rest of the story I think. I'll just imagine it was a super duper tight and exciting match.
Is that Gary as in Gary that got absorbed into Sara? The following comment is what ticked my imagination (anything can happen right?) : "I'd threaten you with an overclocked sim, but your file says you'd probably enjoy it./Comes with the heritage."
"It was twenty years ago" Hey! A concrete timestamp! No wonder Jobes is now a queen instead of a princess.
"We gather tonight to remember those who have passed, not just in this event but through the history of this campus" Emotion, depth, respect. I now understand the meaning of this Homecoming. May the rest of this section be spent in silent memorial.

I enjoyed the references to the pass here and there, even though I feel like I either missed a few, or some are about stuff I haven't yet read. It makes this story feel like a homage to the Whateley verse and to continuity, and what an homage it is.
The writting feels quite refined. The length and structure of the sentences are varied, and you taught me many new words and the context in which they are used. Top grade. Thank you again for this excellent read.

- runner scores their a point (scores them)
- Gaia's Fist (You reused it multiple times, so I know it is deliberate, although I have no idea what it means in this context. Is that her codename?)
- I'd to see them at their worst (I'd like)
- I represent that (Could work. I think 'I resemble that' is more commonly used though.)
- Beyond her youthful looks, Beyond her youthful looks, (maybe drop the repetition)

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback GrimGrendel.
My responses, roughly in order.
Yes, that Modular component harness. Care to guess who was responsible for pulling the job in the the (un)official inter-school competition?
And yes, that Gary. Once again, you've spotted the cameo. Sara did say she'd bring him back after all. I dropped a couple other hints that he was the offspring of a GOOling as well. I intentionally avoided 'hard' identifiers, as we don't know what will happen in the Gen1/Gen2 timetable, but I did have existing Gen1 characters in mind for many of the older participants. Anyone feel up to taking a guess at who all put in an appearance?
It's quite possible that the references you feel like you missed were additions I added to the Whateley universe. Because portions of the story extended outside the Gen1/Gen2 canon, it was necessary to do a certain amount of world building. I'm glad that the blocks that I added blended well with the foundation provided by TIN(2)CC.
Typo notes:
I've corrected notes 1,3, and 5 ('scores their team a point', 'I'd hate to see them', and dropped repetition).
In this context, Gaia's Fist is her code name. She suffers from a severe case of GSD (hence her ent-like appearance), and is a member of the Bad Seeds or Masterminds, in addition to being a member of the Kimba Korner training team. The Kimba Korner training team could also be called Team Kimba Junior, as it is comprised of Team Kimba offspring and TG students who are eyeing the super lifestyle.
The use of 'I represent that' was intentional, though resemble that probably should have been used. James Blond is one of the handful of British students present, and is a member of the Intelligence Cadet Corps.

For a variety of reasons, mostly having to do with avoiding the appearance of 'stealing' others' ideas, I don't read a lot of IF. This one, though, I read because I'd seen the work in progress because it involved Kayda. So I hoped it would be good. I was not disappointed. Setting up a rival school - that's actually something we talked about in the world-building year-and-a-half of Gen 2 planning. This works nicely. Hats off, take a bow, kudos, and all that stuff.
Please write more - perhaps about 'exchange student' program?

When I was looking for proof-readers prior to the final release, I pondered asking Phoenix Spiritus for his assistance, but I decided not to for exactly the same reason you avoid reading IF. I didn't want to put him into a situation where he would be faced with that issue.
I do have a backstory in mind as to the circumstances surrounding the establishment of Homestake Academy, but there is a distinct possibility of conflict with Gen2 Canon in it. I'm willing to send the details to TIN(2)CC via PM if they ask for them, but it likely won't be explicitly spelled out otherwise.
I hadn't thought about delving deeper into the dynamics between the schools in the mutant academy league (such as student exchange programs), but my muse thinks that could be quite fertile ground for writing. Probably won't happen any time soon, as I've been pondering trying to run through a few of my writing prompts in an effort to help kickstart the interest in them.
