  • I'm working on a WhatIf-ish story where Icy gets her powers back, but I kinda wanna revise the spirit I have Devilmaster shoving into her.

This is what I have written at the moment:

“What is that?” Samantha hissed as she stared at the spirit that had emerged from the North point box.

Devilmaster spared the spirit a short glance, taking in the hovering form. It hung in the air like an exquisitely carved ice sculpture of a nude woman, though there was nothing gentle or soft about her in spite of her ice blue curves. Her fingers and toes ended in cruel looking claws, and the smile the spirit flashed Samantha was all predatory teeth. Like a trail of pixie dust ice flakes drifted down from the spirit, and as they touched the stone floor it frosted over. Even from without the circle he could feel the chill of the spirit leeching his life force from him. “That is a spirit of winter death. You said you wanted your ice powers back, and while I could have found you something... gentler...”

My original image of the spirit came from this picture just with more swirly ice shards around it.
But now I'm kind of thinking more Ice Queen out of the story Frozen was originally based on.

What I kind of need help with is minion spirits that Icy's popping into Darcy and a few followers she's putting the whammy on. Should I mix up the spirit types? Should I keep them all related to the girl's spirits, as I do see Darcy having minions of her own as well.

  • You say "Ice Queen," I'm immediately reminded of the Snow Queen in Oglaf ... (note: this links to the wiki entry on the character. The actual comic pages are really, really NSFW)

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

    I forgot about her.

  • Did Icy lose her powers? It's been a while since I read the story, but I thought that she was still able to use magic after her spirit was removed.

Every other Monster Kid seemed to loose their powers once the spirit was yanked from them.
You're likely thinking of Gwen aka Stormy who yoinked the tri-raven spirit, so she still has her spirit upgrade as well as being a (magical?) mutant.

  • Canon here - losing a spirit will lose any powers that the spirit brings. For example - Tatanka gives Kayda some psychic shielding. Without Tatanka, she has no psychic shield.

It's also canon that losing a spirit can be a catastrophic psychological event for the avatar whose spirit was lost. The stronger the spirit, the more traumatic the loss is.

You're right. I forgot which witch girl was the non-jerk.
