  • We are already into Late October/Early November already through fewer stories. Ribbon and Roulette are sharing stories, Hank is the only POV Kimba currently, so that team is laying low. But is it just me, or is first semester of season 1 passing by VERY fast? I would love to see more POVs from this period. We have characters available for them. ( selfish wish for more Aquerna POV here). I know that some of this is due to circumstances, we can't fault Elrod for fewer Danny and/or Kayda stories, given all the hardships that have befallen him.

  • depends on which particular author you're talking about

Morpheus has always been hellishly prolific as a writer. the sheer number of works under the morpheus name boggles my mind.

The rest of us don't have muses that are quite so... Demanding.

  • I mean that it seems like we are further into season 2, with fewer stories than Season 1 was at the same time of year.

  • Given that the first year took over a decade we're trying to up the pacing a bit and not run into that again... as more students clear that first few weeks we'll be able to show more of what's happening with them, through the semester, as well. The goal is to stay away from the Day-by-Day accounts. Not that stories won't take place over a day, or a few days... just that we don't intend every story to pick up where the last one left off.

  • I'm in September with Shine, Elle, and Knockoff, and in October with Kayda and Pounce. So it depends on the author AND the available time to write.

  • I think Year 2 is also assisted by needing a lot less worldbuilding.

(Or figuring out how it was supposed to work, for that matter).

He does not have a muse! It's a task master beating a drum while an assistant whips him raw!

Nah, Morpheus wears the taskmaster out. The man is very good at what he does, which is creating quality content in a rapid manner. There is just one of his stories I have not read that I know about, and that is because I have not been able to find "Baa Baa Black Sheep" without getting distracted by documentaries. His stuff is addictive, if the FDA ever reads it they will make his stories a Schedule 1 substance!

Morpheus is not an author. He is a collective, like the Borg.

Of course the Borg are based off the Cybermen so You Will Be Upgraded,

  • Yes, the theory is definitely that we want to do a lot less 'every day' filling. That its entirely possible that half a month can go by without anyone doing anything significant... just going to classes. That's not to say that we won't occasionally do a Diane Castle style 'journal' piece, where every minute of the day for a week is covered... but that's not going to define us.

Specifically, in looking at the set up structure of Gen 2, I challenged the authors to work within the mind set of a television series mind set... with perhaps 20-30 total 'episodes' in the course of a school year. Something which can be handled with 2-3 yrs of stories. Of course, there's also the idea of lots of opportunity for 'spin offs'... not every story released has to be a part of the core storyline. Some stories are just advancing a given character's plot, or are side stories to develop supporting people. And in pre-planning those core story 'episodes' and picking who will write each, it will allow them to advance the overall story much quicker than the original timeline did.

Some of that might spill over to the main original timeline too, of course. Especially given that we have lots planned for Winter and Spring... while Fall of this second year is mainly about establishing the new class and their interactions. :)

Well, that story is available on Morpheus' Yahoo group, at:
    groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Morpheuscabinet2/files

Look for a file named "Black Sheep" on the root of the Files section. But you will have to become a group member first.

Note that this story was originally a standalone with no TG elements, but Morpheus eventually reused the character in his Legacy Universe story "The Knight's a Lady", bringing "Baa Baa Black Sheep" into the Legacy fold. But it's not available in either FM or BigCloset nor, to the best of my knowledge, anywhere else.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • Thanks for the link, the legacy series was just amazing. The only one I had trouble "getting into" was the last one...I had to go back and re-read some of the others to re-position myself.

EDIT- I approve. Black Sheep once more affirms my own sense of justice. Make the guilty suffer. His methods may not be as stringent as the old "separate system" but they are effective. Now, to mow some grass and wait for the next installment here.

  • From Morpheus' Whateley Wikipedia bio:

Morpheus is since July 2014 one of the Canon Authors, and is the author of Ribbon, Roulette, Imp, Mischief and Glow, and is expected to bring more of his fanfic characters into the canon. His first Gen2 character is Glyph.

His initial coding was finished sometime prior to 1998, and he has been churning out fiction ever sense. No one knows who wrote the initial program, but it has been evolving since it came online, producing over 300 stories.

He began posting Whateley fanfiction early in 2014, and was invited the join the canon authors later in the year; four of his fanfiction stories have not (yet) been rewritten in canonical versions.

And this is of course completely accurate. Actually need to update the number of his fan fiction stories that aren't canon, only the end of Absinthe 2 and Porcelain is not canon yet.
