I am a caffeine heathen; I prefer the waters of the mountain over the juice of the bean. Keep the Dews coming and no one will be hurt.

I remember on the old forum that making someone think they are a toad is more Essence efficient then making them into a toad, but suppose you wanna go all Bad Old Days Circe, is that eco disaster level magic? Or being Life-Mage (Tried cloning Aung's womb pre-sundering, made the weres.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

Why on earth would changing someone into a frog be an eco-disaster?

To be clear: Fey causes ecological damage when she casts big spells due to the particular flavor of magic she uses -- a flavor that relies on mana channeled through the World Trees, and in the absence of them draws life force from Nature. Other mages use other flavors of magic that draw Essence in different ways and don't cause that effect. The Sidhe-style flavor Fey uses is almost extinct -- if there are other practitioners, they aren't able to draw Essence at the rates Fey does, so the effect had never been observed before.

But the de Maugris/Akelarre style of more traditional(?) magic also produces miasma as a by-product.
Is the Whateley Academy curriculum essence-fueling magic inherently "cleaner"? Or it at least somehow manages to maintain a balance that the Sidhe type and miasma by-product types do not.

I imagine they have a system that channels the waste through the sewer and vents it out that portal at the other end.

Ok, I think I have an answer distilled dow.
It leaves you wondering the price Circe paid to do all those transformations back in the day.
