I'd recommend it during Christmas shopping season.

  • And now I'm tempted to have my spear loving Sidhe receive a Lirpa ( memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Lirpa ) for Christmas. Then again she might actually try using it in BMA...

This would be one situation where they could pass for normal during the festive season.

Using fake pointy ears, and an illusion of human ears underneath.

Maybe something to mention for costume class...

  • My fanfic Sidhe (she's Arcadian so she's a little different) would wear her ears proudly. Likely spout her love being a pagan and more :D

  • I imagine it's contextual. If the student is just visiting a town on their own time, then they'd use personal judgment based on local attitudes. Neither Dunwich nor NYC is going to care if a Sidhe's got their ears out, but what is a non-issue in NYC could lead to a bit of a kerfluffle in Kayda's town, followed by the traditional post-trip chew-out from administration.

If it's a class trip, then the parameters of the trip also factor in. If it's the sort of trip where it's clear which school the students represent (e.g. due to the paperwork to book a facility, or labels/branding on the students/vehicles), then hiding the ears and any other visible indicators of mutation would be important for the sake of keeping the school's secret. If it's a school sponsored trip but without any obvious indicators of which school, things could be more relaxed. That's especially true if the students won't form an obvious group -- a few random mutants in a general crowd are less suspicious than a few mutants all wearing the same uniform or all trailing behind the same chaperone.

  • One version of the Whately uniform obviously includes a hoodie.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

  • I'm syrprised they don't have a unisex uniform.

  • Well, the Whateley "uniform" is less standardized than in most schools. There's a lot of leeway for unusual body types, for one thing. Also, Ayla has successfully managed to wear pants during the warm months, despite his legal ID being female. And Jericho, among others, may have gotten away with wearing the female uniform. So, it's in fact as unisex as the students want to make it.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

And Jericho, among others, may have gotten away with visual assault and murder wearing darn near anything! including what could be called a female uniform.

    there...fixed it!

To be fair, in the case of Jericho it was self-preservation from the admin staff that gave the official permission.
