  • On an occasion that the MCO is called in, but it turns out the super isn't a mutant, cause how can joe average tell?, what happens to the captured being? I was thinking if it was an alien that could explain some of the disappearances.

  • Well, you have to remember, de jure, the MCO has NO Police Powers. They can't arrest or detain anyone Legally. They do, however detain people on such a regular basis that many people, even Police, accept it as a given. Their first toehold there is that they have their local offices equipped with special restraint cells. so an arrested mutant or other Metahuman can be held for trial pending being moved to a special restraint cell somewhere else.

Non-mutant metahumans will usually be processed out quickly, but the MCO loves the idea of captured mutants escaping other agencies' custody, so there are some monkeyshines there.

As for an Alien, that gets very touchy, and a lot of different agencies would get involved. By and large, the MCO is cagey enough to let the others fight over the bone.

  • If you slap mutant power-cancelling cuffs on them, and they don't work... that might be a sign XD

  • Ok, that last part of my first post was ugly. Meant to say the MIB swooping in to relocate aliens could be part of the disappearances.

So most Foundlings aka those whose faerie blood spark sees them transform into either Áes Síobhra or Áes Discir will generally in MCO favored countries just get the usual treatment. The US doesn't really have an established group of Faerie Mages so they really aren't use to it. If someone in the area KNOWs about the fae and notices that the person is maybe not someone to snatch they MIGHT try to warn said MCO. Note, if you steal a member of a faerie bloodline the existing leaders will not take it well. There are a lot of stories in Ireland where fools snatched the changeling child of a powerful faerie prince and ended up as mindless husks.

Ireland has an active group of Faerie mages (like Maeve aka Glass Witch) who handle this sort of thing. In general the Guards aka Gardaí will refer to them when needed. Some Gardaí are actually mages themselves and in large areas of known fae presence the will employ teams trained in handling instances of faerie involvement.

  • Hmm, may barrow some of Maeve's glass magic tricks for my mirror mimic.

  • Oooh a mimic would be able to -kind- of copy the abilities of a Faerie Mage. But only a purile level. They would be able to use the mirrors for scrying etc. Now the more complicated ability such as "Mirror Walking" is for those Pacted to Shadow. The ability to communicate via mirrors is a STANDARD faerie ability.

Maeve as a Mage has two Pact-Domains, Fate (which includes the subdomains of Luck and Failure) and yes, she is also a Shadow Mage.

"Miss Reilly, why are you in my mirror? Today's uniform day, and I do need to shave."
    "Thinking of empaths this morning?"
    "... Maybe?"
"I'll email you a list of known or suspected Fae and Sidhe students to avoid. Falconer at Whateley Academy, correct?"
    "Yes, ma'am."
    "Locking you out now."

  • HEH. Since mirror magick is faerie based Fae could hack it to a point, but she wouldn't be able to do very well or for very long. Faerie magick is bound by the Pacts a Fae holds to the Domains of the Wyrd. This means that only those of faerie blood can truly use their magick.

TDLR - Fae would be able to do a basic scry, but she couldn't do it very well or for more than -maybe- a minute.

You should. I'm on the Whateley unofficial Discord and I run my own for vetted fans and friends. I am guarded on responses on one, and the other well. ITS for my personal fandom so pretty much no-holds-bar info dumps cuz I usually test out stuff there.

  • Sin, for my sanity and the power scale, I'm sticking with 'just human' with no fae in the mix for mirror girl. I'm already treading into Japanese folk lore, Fae to the mix is to much.
