  • Having a bit of a dilemma with some world building. I can't decide if the Courts chose planets then transformed them wiping out any native ecosystem or if they melded what they brought from Earth with what was there.

So it really come down to 'how lazy do I feal?' when I write this.

  • I'd go with melded because that might explain some of the Fae or magical creatures of lore. They are from alien planets and died off or evolved fast via magic?

So remember Fey Vs. Fae are two separate entities. The Fae have watching earth for a while, some are pretty well known mythical figures.

Melding could let me knock some of the arrogance out of them...

If you can tell us without giving too much away, was this part of the canon all along, or is it something you are introducing now? I can see it as something that's been sort of there in the background all along, but you're the first to mention it if so.

Either way, it does put several aspects of earlier stories into a new light. Interesting stuff.

  • Faeries have been in Canon since the OG lore Bible. The Division of Fey vs Faerie is my major contribution to Whateley.

  • Ah, OK, all good then. I'll look forward to seeing how this plays out in the stories. :)

  • Most if not all my stories include a fairly large amount of backstory and world building notes. Things that aren't even that visible in the narrative itself. So consider an additional 5-20 pages of lore that are soley for Cabal eyes cuz it's to keep cohesion.

  • This never did address the original question, though, and honestly I'd say it was more something addressed to Joe Gunnarson, since the extra-planetary colonies (and indeed, the references to the Courts having interstellar portals and vessels) are only mentioned directly in "North to Atlantis", and seem to have nothing to do with the Fae (as opposed to the Fey of the Courts).

This is somewhat separate from the questions regarding the Summerlands (which were previously mentioned in "To Be Merry and Escape From it All", when Nikki considers taking Merry under the hill as part of their plan to break her out of ARC Red). Fey seemed uncertain as to her reception there, but did seem certain that it was accessible to her.

I wasn't sure of the realm 'beyond the looking glass' which Scald-Crow travels to in "Under Pressure" is the same one Nikki was referring to, if both were parts of a larger realm, or if the latter were somewhere else entirely (I'm assuming the last of those), and what relation either has to the various Dreamlands.

I suppose that answers will be forthcoming in later stories, though.

  • I'm not sure where or why, but something somewhere always made me think that Earth was a Five Fold Colony, and not their Homeworld/plane/origin point.

Hmm, tempted to jump on that idea.

  • The Five Fold Court had colonies... some of them established, some of them purely refugee camps fleeing the war and the outcome (Sundering). Some of those were intersteller. Some were interdimensional.

But no, Earth itself was 'home'. And the seat of most of the power of the Courts.

Fey can travel through the Looking Glass or through a blessed water to Under the Hill if she wishes. Both Aelves and the Siobhrai share a common complex ancestry, but the truth is she would not be welcome. Now if she were to visit other Sidhe fey or similar entities in their own dimension that might be less of an issue. The current Prince of Tir Na Nog aka "the Summerlands" is pretty amenable to Mortals, and is friendlier to the Sidhe. A thing to remember though "friendly" in this context means we don't cut off your heads on sight, and thus give you a few moments to explain yourselves.

Thank you for saying that. Now I don't have to Battlestar binge.
