  • Great stuff. The part where Hank missed his fathers hugs, and Ms. Guzman remembering the birthday party hurt, a lot.
Would it be possible for Hank to get a full time canon writer, by the name of Phoenix?

Edit: I saw comments and have at it. So I did.

I echo the sentiments about the story, and also second the proposal about the author.

Edit: Oops, just realized this is the wrong forum thread for this kind of comment. Sorry... :( :S

  • The story was heartwarming in how it was handled with the right amount of insight in how each of the characters came together to deal with the loss of one of their own. How Hank had lost not just a roommate but a friend who he was able to share in his own loss of both family and fiends. The way one would expect someone to feel as they went through the grieving process of anger, love and hate each of of feels. To wish for one to come back knowing they never will.

Looking forward to hear more from either author as we learn more about Hank.

  • Sudden thought that re-hit me.

Could Totem talk with any of the spirits that were interacting with Heyoka to find out what happened?

It wouldn't be something that could be used in the human courts, but the spirits would have their own approaches to resolving this any way.

Another thought: Apart from the wards placed around Whateley to prevent the magical entities causing trouble, what's the Whateley status within the magical communities? Not from the human side which has been laid out already, but from the Entities POV?

  • The problem with following ancient secretive traditions in which lore and training passes from master to student over life long learning processes... and with any given master only taking a couple apprentices over their lifetime... is that it doesn't tend to result in much community building.

  • This is why i found the fanfic's with the open-source magic groups, rather than the secretive magic traditions, so interesting.

  • I did have one nitpick with the story. Hank keeps complaining that Nobody is looking for Jamie's killer. Nobody is dead, he couldn't be looking for Jamie's killer.

  • There were 3 friends. Anybody, Somebody and Nobody.
One day Nobody decided to go for a walk. As Nobody was taking a stroll Nobody passed by Somebody but Nobody paid any attention to him.

Just as Nobody was about to walk away Somebody tripped over Nobody looking to see if Anybody was around. But Somebody hadn't been looking for Nobody thinking that Anybody was around so Nobody let Somebody know Nobody had seen Anybody since Nobody had been around.

Since Somebody couldn't find Anybody Nobody decided to look for Anybody at the park since Somebody mentioned that Anybody could be there.

Once Nobody entered the park Nobody didn't see Anybody so Nobody decided to look for Somebody since Somebody was going there to. Since Nobody couldn't find Anybody Nobody decided to look for Somebody but wasn't surprised when Anybody showed up.

Continuing to search Nobody went to see if Anybody had found Somebody since Nobody hadn't seen Somebody on the way to the park so Nobody climbed a tree for a better look only to see that Somebody found Anybody.

As Nobody was climbing back down Nobody's jacket became entangled on a tree branch and Nobody slipped leaving Nobody hanging.

Meanwhile Somebody went looking for Nobody as well as Anybody but neither Somebody or Anybody could see Nobody who was struggling in the tree. Since neither Anybody nor Somebody was really looking for Nobody they both decided to leave.

With Nobody stranded in the tree hanging Nobody tried to get Somebody's or Anybody's attention twisting and turning on the limb only Nobody's jacket twisted itself cutting off Nobody's voice leaving Nobody alone in the tree.

Since Somebody or Anybody wasn't looking for Nobody watched as Somebody Anybody left the park.

Moral of the story is: Just because Somebody found Anybody doesn't mean Somebody or Anybody should give up on Nobody thus leaving Nobody hanging.

What is - was. What was - is.
