Question The "dead."

Bloodworm, at least Screech would be there. Though he may not be dead.
Folder, Mule and the rest of the Grunts would be there for him, I wonder if Dani was there? He's not really dead.
Apathy, if anyone remembered him.
Heyoka had a bunch.
Nobody, presumably the Goobers and Dream Team showed up
I think those are the only students, or those that were mentioned.
Aunghadhail had various sidhe, and TK.
Eric Mahren, Aquerna had to be really messed up to skip that.
Backdraft was Eldritch there for her?
from the staff
The security guards that were killed.
Am I missing anyone?

I think I was going for official dead, along with those we know aren't really dead, like Folder. Mrs. Carson would have listed Folder, even though he didn't die. Now that I think back, she may or may not list Eric, he was supposedly sent to ARC Black.
I don't think there are any reverse situations, where someone did die and they are pretending he's in Tahiti.
And I was going for the 2006-07 school year.
The year wasn't going that bad until Elrod showed up and started killing off people. :

To be completely fair, we killed Heyoka, and it was my idea. Specifically was my idea to kill a lot more people, you talk me down to just Heyoka.

But discounting the security guys on Halloween, it's only Nobody and Backdraft. Folder didn't die, Eric didn't die, Bloodworm is probably still alive (if that has meaning where he is). Migraine is still alive, Fireball/Tisiphone survived, Bloodwolf survived.

Getting back to the original question, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few off-screen student deaths of the more accidental/non-malicious variety. Burnout, surprise allergies, disruptive mutations, buggy devises, strayed off the beaten path in the woods/tunnels, suicide, etc. I imagine that those kinds of thing happen more often at Whateley than outright murder, after all.Valentine wrote: Elrod's comment on which author killed off the most Whateleycentric characters, made me wonder just whom were they honoring at the memorial ceremony.

Indeed.
There's at least one lab related accident a semester that could be lethal. The only thing that keeps it from being a definite statistic is the labs are hardcore about safety and the medical staff can literally work miracles.

Seriously, I'm not sure if I'll have any characters die. Depends on how much I have to offset the silly antics with Danny. The sillier he gets, the more I'll have to kill to keep things balanced according to the Tao

The original stories had tones that were humorous and light. Even the 'origin' stories that dealt with conflict and loss over manifesting still managed to be 'fun' reads, and from looking at the page views for stories, those type of stories seem to be the most popular.
I'm just wondering if the recent large number of 'bleak' stories with relatively few 'fun' ones might be causing the lose of readers (yes, I know, lump of coal calling the kettle black here).
I'm not saying stop writing the bleak stories, but maybe we might want to increase the number of stories like the Danny / Imp / Mischief ones that are just fun to read?

I know I'm guilty of writing slightly dark stories, but I do try and slip some humour in. And at least have a reasonably happy ending.
The problem is, resolved darkness is a good way to show the development of the character, giving them mountains to climb.
I do have a very silly piece lined up for Morgana, but it doesnt fit into the story till later in the term.
At least we have a slightly more happy fun-filled Elrod, although we do have to make sure he keeps taking the pills.

The Pink Panther
Parent Teacher Night
Captured Cuti

Goldilocks and the Three Little Witches

Though I'll admit the current story I'm working on is mostly ... dark.... in the sense, that the only reason it's not a classic honky tonk Country song, is no dog is involved in IT... (and therefore, I couldn't kill the poor doggie...)
But, most of my planned stories after that, either are 'neutral' (not quite sure how to classify the Kenshin upcoming focus one, but no deaths, and ends on some humor, planned) or pratfall type stories, and some humor scenes, plus a vignettes that would be... well, more humor based. Really on my end, I have no real 'dark' stories planned after the story I'm working on..

Mitch hung his head in pain not even looking at the tray of food in front of him as the sounds of his classmates enjoying their lunch. "So Mitch, what's got you down in the dumps?" his tablemate asked.
"We were warned that we'd have a difficult Sim session today," he managed to say after gathering his thoughts, "but none of us expected Gunny'd put us up against Team Wondercute!"
"Nobody expects Team Wondercute!" came the inevitable chorus around him.
Mitch groaned and sank lower in his chair.
