Question Hekate's Master

In Medicine Girl, we learned some more about him.
What did we learn? Well we learned that he eats on the same tier as the Beret Mafia, which is the middle tier. From the Wiki: The Beret Mafia, Handmaid's Own, the Good Ol' Boyz, the Tigers and the Whateley Martial Arts Cheerleaders sit at the middle level.
Underdogs, Bravo Company, the Nerd Herd, the Losers, the Goths and several of the known bullies are on the ground floor, The Alphas took one of the central tables on the top level, near the uppermost portion of the waterfall, as did the Cape Squad, the Golden Kids and the New Olympians. Other known occupants of this level include the Bad Seeds, the Dragons, the Grunts, Team Kimba, the Outcast Corner, Pan-Asia and Venus Inc.
There are certainly other groups on the middle level, and some overlap as people eat with other groups they are members of. Kayda has eaten with Venus Inc., The Alphas, her own team, and the Underdogs, at the minimum.
HM also seems to have at least a mild case of Diedrick's Syndrome.

HM deals with Mythos magic. I suspect that if he has Diedrick's, it's only a partial cause of any insanity he might show.Valentine wrote: HM also seems to have at least a mild case of Diedrick's Syndrome.
Also, I think this pretty much confirms that HM is not a Poesie. Why? Because he didn't know about Debra.

He is male or his current form is male, we have no idea if he is in fact some sort of entity which has possessed students and this is just his newest body or not.
He is a junior or senior, as he taught Hekate since her 1st year, from what I remember.
He is not on the magic track, yet uses Mythos magic.
He is seen regularly in the Workshop, so either a gadgeteer, devisor, regular techhead or just friend of someone down there.
He is someone we trust, according to the canon authors teasing on the old forums.
And now which level of the café he eats on, although this might be just sitting with friends and not his regular spot.
Using those details, I wonder if we could narrow it down to the 10 most likely suspects or not.
Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked.

We also know that he is someone who would speak normally to Amber (so they are at least friendly acquaintances), and he doesn't know that Kayda and Debra are an item.

Nope, only since October 2005, so he could also be a sophomore if we assume no recent body-changes:
Ayla and the Birthday Brawl, Part 1 wrote: He knew a number of other things about Señor X too. Starting with the fact that this person was around last year too - he had started teaching Hekate a year ago last October. That made him (or her or possibly even it) a sophomore or junior or senior.
My primary guess remains Hazmat. He's a sophomore, he's on the tech track, he's nonthreatening to people like Amber (who may be aware of him due to the depilatory he's been working on), we trust him, he's been involved in enough stories that it wouldn't feel cheap, he's working with Puppet, he's dating an avatar (HM has that spirit-stealing project), and through Anna he's likely to be at least marginally familiar with Mr. Miyamoto and Anna's nickname for him (HM called him Mr. M., unlike what Anna tells us others call him).
My secondary guess remains Mega-Death (via possession, possibly by his squid robot).

Not sure why I find this so amusing, but if it does turn out to be Hazmat, I'm going to bust up laughing at the possibly unintentional joke the TINCC has been laying on us.
Hazmat = Haz Mat = HM = Hekate's Master

It says that he saw her as she walked toward the Beret table. While we know the Beret table is on the second floor, that doesn't mean she was already on the second floor when he saw her. Furthermore, we don't know anything at all about where he was during that scene. Note that the Crystal Hall is transparent; he could easily have been spying on people from a window inside Shuster, for example.
Anyway, there aren't many male techies who are known to dine on the second level. Just Dynamaxx and Ferret, I think, and neither fit the trust criteria. (Granted, that one has no in-story basis.)

He's a devisor, and Belphoebe, who is supposed to be a direct copy of him is magically active. Add in that no-one considers him a threat, and he'd be an ideal mask.
The "spirit that goes body-hopping" is also a good concept that would describe HM, and would cover the patterns of behaviour that's exhibited.
How much follow-up does the WA admin do to keep an eye on graduationg students? Would they be able to find the vanished students that were HM's previous hosts?

Kayda 4.2 wrote: "Hello?" she asked as she walked cautiously off the path into the trees. "Is anyone here?"
"I see you decided to accept my invitation," Belphagor said, stepping out from behind a tree.
Amber started, and then she relaxed a bit. "You startled me."
Does this interaction seem plausible to you?

Second, I'm beginning to think HM is more than one person. Not necessarily body hopping. But literally, one mind, two or more bodies. Duplication is a warper power we haven't seen yet.

My list in the first post is from Diane's description via Phase after the he returns from Miami. So barring any mid spring semester changes it should be fairly accurate, with the caveat that Phase does mention a lot of sitting where ever people feel like on the bottom two tiers.

This is the first place I've seen reference to "special platforms". Other than there being three tiers, there's been no mention of levels within the levels. If you are saying they exist, they exist. But no one has mentioned it at all since Crystal Hall reopened for the spring semester.Kristin Darken wrote: And some of that probably changed with the rebuild of the crystal hall that happened mid-year as part of the senior project/legacy. Eh, you missed it. I thought we had done something with greater fan fare, but perhaps not. There's this from Whilst Any Speaks Chapter 2:
Jadis had no answer to her friends' dry, self deprecating humor, so she pressed her thumb to the reader and led the way out into the seating area. Since the introduction of the two new tiers above them, the ground level seats had been mostly abandoned to the new social war in getting choice spots higher up. The Alphas of course owned the best of the four circular dais platforms that jutted out from the tiers, one of two that framed the water fall, and Kodiak had had it's mate on the other side designated as the faculty and staff pad, thus insinuating their 'control' over the school.
This left formerly choice spots on the ground level abandoned which, Jadis found perfect. She picked one of the smaller tables next to the little pool the waterfall flowed into that would provide a soothing level of white noise and, some part of the back of her mind told her would make eves dropping on their conversation difficult.
But there are pictures as you can see here:

If you look over Kodiaks shoulders you'll a pair of circular dais 'platforms' that jut out from the tiers. Each Tier has 4. On the top tier, two frame the waterfall. As you look at the water fall, the left platform is reserved for faculty and staff the right platform is the Alpha Platform.

Do you mean you don't see the link in my post or you missed the Tiers? There are others but that angle doesn't show them, or do you mean something else?

I didn't get the impression these "choice spots" were disconnected from the three tiers. I just thought there were four raised section on the tier, maybe a semi-cloverleaf look. Not separate as in the picture.E. E. Nalley wrote:

I hate these kinds of pictures. NO ONE in those pictures looks as I envision them in my head. I know some people prefer there to be character pictures. But I'm not one of them when the work is purely text.

Okay I'm going to have to say *sigh* I didn't see any 'older' option. Seriously. But yes its there with others. As Daffy would say. Just shoot me now. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find a rock, anvil and a cliff.

Arcanist Lupus wrote: How did the Hekate's Master thread end up talking about the Crystal Hall? Did I miss something in between pages 2 and 3 of this thread?
It started with how the individual saw Skybolt in Crystal Hall. She was showing off her mid-section and the individual saw it. It then became speculation on how he could see it with the possibility of the building floors being redesigned to where he was possibly not on the same floor and it tapered off from there.
As Skybolt, wearing a bare-midriff outfit, walked toward the Beret table, smiling broadly for the first time in a very long time despite the plethora of piercings still in her face, a pair of eyes noticed the outfit, and more importantly, that her navel was free of piercings, and in fact, the area looked completely healed, and even regenerated. The face behind the eyes frowned deeply; the rumors, it appeared, were true - the Native American girl had defeated Hekate's dark magic spell, freeing the German girl of at least some of her piercings.
If she could do that, then she was much more dangerous to him - and by extension, to his plans - than he'd first thought, and he'd already noted her to be a formidable threat. Damn those two idiots - they'd picked the lesser threat to eliminate, it appeared. Heyoka and his Thunderbird spirit would have been challenging, but that spirit didn't give Heyoka the ability to defeat the complex tapestry of Mythos magic.
There would have to be new plans to deal with her. But as he thought, his mind echoed a line from a movie, a deep, almost mechanical voice that said, "If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally."
