  • Uh... ok. I'll look into it. By posting... do you mean forums post? Where/what?

  • Forum post, Concepts sub folder, seems to have posted fine as people are replying to the thread.

  • From what I can figure, it tried and failed to send an email to someone who is subscribed to get updates any time there is a new thread posted and the mailing system wasn't working at that moment in time. The problem cleared up on its own, so I'm guessing it was an external problem with our mailing service.

  • I just encountered an occurrence of this error as well (responding to the Murphy's Laws of Spirit thread).

  • Problem confirmed with 'external' cause. We've been using Sendgrid as our SMTP mailing service since the new site went up. As it turns out, Sendgrid recently decided to revamp its authentication process from using the user account name and password to a separate API key and routing process. As a result, our system as setup for the old process, was tripping over their authentication sequence and not routing things further. That likely affected a lot of things that I didn't hear about... because no one could use direct routes to email us. :) I STILL don't know why I never received error messages or a negative report from Sendgrid, I mean, they're usually on the ball about reporting that sort of thing... the main dashboard even tells me how many emails bounce, or aren't opened at the other end. But I got nothing from them about it.

Fortunately, I can now officially say I've found the problem... so no one should see any SMTP authentication errors again for the time being. :)
