  • The comment sections under the stories appears to be empty on many stories I know had comments previously... in fact I haven't been able to find any stories with comments still under them.

  • Confirmed, I always make a note under my stories so I get notifications of new comments and You Don't Know Jak is missing its posts.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

  • Hmm.. sounds like the update to the Flexicontent extension that provides the format for the story meta-data overrode some template info. I'll give it a look and see if I can figure out why its not showing.

  • Well... immediate guesses aside, I don't see something that is an obvious fix. Evidently, I'm going to have to dig a bit more. On the plus side... it 'looks' as if any new comments DO post and become visible. Also, the OLD comments are still in the system where I can get at them. I just have to figure out why the system isn't recognizing the old comments and binding them to the stories. I'm fairly sure it was the update I applied yesterday, but that doesn't mean there's an update that will fix it. I'll keep you informed.

  • Ok, found it and the problem should be solved... though any comments added in the interim may have disappeared unless they automatically convert over on their own (not betting on that happening).

As it turns out, a change in the code for one of the extensions conflicted with code in another extension and the two of them were arguing over who owned the comments and who owned the ability to show the comments on the story pages. One of them had custody of the kids, one of them got custody of the house... and never the twain shall meet. So, while the comments were all still around... the code that was trying to display them had no access to any comment already claimed by the other extension. Thus, new comments would be visible (at least until the other extension claimed those too). I've disabled one of the plugins (the one belonging to the extension that was trying to show its empty hand) and the other extension 'should' handle both aspects... collecting the comments and showing them... now.

Let me know if anything seems wrong.

  • So, interestingly, I actually DID get a comment between my post of confirming what Dan had found, and your fix now. It was this one:

Great story. I really love this series.
It brings great insight into the sith.

I don't understand how Master Vost said that he had read all he could on Lord Fens, but hasn't read / watched her essays/videos on the Holonet.

The interesting thing is the date stamp. Supposedly, that was posted back in April, but I just got the notification of it yesterday. Here is the email header:

Even more interesting is that the date/time stamp in the email is the same as on the site:

I hope that helps with the track down of weirdness.

  • That might just be because I changed some notification settings while trying to pin down the bug. Or it might be a result of the changes/fixes to the mailing system.

Or... well... who knows what it might be.
