  • I tried to log into the new site and I received a message that I had been blocked or my account not activated.
I thought the problem was my password was wrong and clicked forgot password icon and received a message stating my account was blocked.
Could you assist me in resolving the problem.

  • Registration on the new site requires manual approval, so there's a chance Kristin hasn't gotten to it yet.

    From a related topic there:

This might sound... pointed... but I have to ask:
    1. Have you looked in your spam folder? The account activation mail should be coming to you from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ... until you respond to that email, I don't even get a notification that you are registering. Once you do, I get an email to approve you. I CAN bypass that and activate you manually... but following the process allows me to verify that you have a valid email account set up with the site. And that you aren't going to be producing bounces when you subscribe to forums threads and the system tries to mail you. That's bad for us, because it hurts the site's reputation with our mail provider.

    2. Is the email you provided for the account valid, active, and accepting email... and not being reported by anti-spam or hacking services? This is an automated system and it runs some checks against online databases... if you happen to be in one of them because your account was hacked and used for spamming... that email isn't going to be approved and you might not get a registration email from us.

IF you've attempted too many logins within the set period and your account is locked out; note that that IS temporary. It will clear in a short period of time. I actually don't see anyone on my ban list at the moment from the automated system, so I suspect you aren't actually locked out... you simply haven't made it through the account activation process yet. Which means you cannot log in because you are not an approved user yet. Until I take that final step to approve you, no matter how many times you try to log in; it isn't going to work.

So... first thing... please double check that the mail isn't lost on your end and that you've followed through the full process to register with a valid email account. Then, come back and let me know who you are. If the confirmation email isn't there, I'll email you directly to verify the email account and we'll go from there.

  • The e-mail did go to my spam site, and I had it moved to my e-mail box. I am able to log into the old site but the problems are logging into the new site.
Let me know what else I need to do.
Thank you for your help and assistance
Would changing my password once in the new site be worth doing?

  • Well... it went to your spam mail and you've moved it to your Inbox... but have you clicked on the link that verifies you?

Because until you click that link in the email; I do not get an email to approve your account. Yes, I can do it the 'hard way' and go into the admin user list, find all the appropriate settings and toggle them... but the whole point of the system in place is to verify that you have a working email and to make it so I don't have to go in and manually check all the things. Sooo... have you clicked on the link to verify your email yet?

You don't need to change passwords or anything... you cannot log into the site because, quite simply, you aren't an approved member yet. And won't be until I click that link (or jump through a bunch of other hoops to do it without you having verified your email.)

Did you get an email that looked like this?

Thank you for registering at The Whateley Academy Universe. Your account is created and must be verified before you can use it.
To verify the account select the following link or copy-paste it in your browser:
    u2018529.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=YW...Qq8RfpQw4CqRCtfStGhg

After verification an administrator will be notified to activate your account. You'll receive a confirmation when it's done.
Once that account has been activated you may login to u2018529.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=YW...2FAN-2Fk8cZbzHj2rHwF using the following username and the password you entered during registration:

Kristin didn't say there would be an icon.

If clicking on the first https:....... string of characters (that is the link) does not work in your email reader, then copy the whole string of characters into whatever URL field that your web browser provides.

Once you get a confirmation email, use the second link to log on for the first time after receiving the confirmation email.

  • Just to be clear, you used the links in the email you received from "Whateley Admin", correct?

What I posted was intended to show you what to look for, not to let people login as me.

  • Huh. The link example I'd posted got me the "Wrong Link" error message that you mentioned, but using the real one that had already been used gave me a differently-worded error message.
