  • I received a number of emails that I attempted to log into the site 22, 25, 27, etc., times, but it seems to just be the page loading slowly from my point of view (possibly a misbehaving ad? They do load last before the site works normally).

I like to swap from my computer to my tablet, so I'm not sure if we're simply not intended to be logged in on multiple devices, or if my browser is acting up (yes, yes, I am using MS Edge, I know, right?).

I don't know what might be causing this issue on my end, but I'd like to know if it is my fault somehow so I can fix it.

    Thanks!

  • As the first (I'm pretty sure I was the first, probably not the first to experience it though) to have made this complaint I'll handle the reply. This complaint has come up multiple times and I'm sure it is a hassle for Kristen and Warren to try to deal with it.

No we are not intended to be logged in on multiple devices.

Other ways you can get those emails:

Turning on remember me while on mobile (they may have fixed this one)

Actually logging on over a dozen times in one day because you keep waiting just teensy bit to long between checking and you don't want to turn on remember me.

Walking through a campus where you have access to the wifi but keep switching to 3/4G because of dead zones and a giant park.

Trying to hack the site and rightly getting banned for it (the only one that I have not done).

My dreams take me to far off lands and times of distant past and future. They tell what has been done, what will happen and who I am. They show me things beyond the machinations of any man. Tell me, what are dreams to you?

  • Although oddly I do often log on on two devices and don't seem to be getting the message.

But I dont change often or fast, which may explain it. Or it may not...

  • It seems to be on my end somehow.

Checking my email since I last posted, I noticed I got on some mailing list. When I tried to unsubscribe, the webpage chugged, and as it decided to finally load, the site reported that I had been blocked for trying to DoS-attack them.

So it is either some recent random flakiness from my ISP or MS Edge (or both). I'll sign out on this browser and switch to a different one in the future on my PC.

Guess who's running a malware scan tonight?

  • Computer infected by malware is a new one, surprisingly.

I'd still like an answer from Astrodragon. It could help me figure out the best log in habits to avoid those emails. (Other than never logging in)

  • Same server, I just sometimes log in on my laptop downstairs as well as on my main PC.

Maybe the site just likes dragons? :)

  • If you clicked on Remember Me, unclick it. Whenever I have that on my IPad, it sends me lots of those messages.

  • Yeah I think the site just doesn't like,it when you are to mobile. It is fine with me if I stay inside my house and use it on two machines but if they are at separate locations it acts up.

  • I think it would probably be useful to make this topic "sticky."

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Oh! Is it because it is "logging in" again every time you wake the tablet from sleep?

  • I did mention this one. I just thought they might fixed it because it is the most common cause.

  • Hmmmm, I use three devices. A desktop at home, a laptop at work and home, and a tablet everywhere else. The only time I see the message is when I fail to automatically login. There seems to be no pattern to when I will fail to login though.

No - actually, I'm thinking that it thinks it's logging in again every time you go to a new _page_. Cuz I have to keep Remember Me unchecked on my desktop computer, which doesn't go anywhere and which _ought_ to be the same IP address for a whole browsing session until I unplug my DSL and plug it in again later, or I get the unhappy emails too.

--Dave, this is my theory, which is mine

  • If you set "Remember me" you are setting a cookie, which then might play up with any cookie cleaning feature of your browser, such as Safari's "Private Browsing" feature that restricts the cookies to a single session (and a single page / tab too).

Anything that causes privacy features to clear the cookie (i.e. closing the tab, or opening a different page in a new tab) will cause a "re-login" attempt, which can run up your count.
