Just a gentle reminder, the Whateley Independant Fiction sections of the site are not just for authors. If you would love to help Authors bring their visions to the readership as a whole, we'd love people to join in to help us the authors do so by reading and commenting on the stories before they are published to help improve them.
We'd love people who are willing to do the following to join the Whateley Independant Fiction section of the site.
'Editors' in the 'big publishing' meaning of the word. Editors are people that read draft versions of stories and help the Author understand how a reader feels about the story. What sections are working and what sections are not, and why. What parts are confusing, moving too fast, leaving the reader behind. What sections are slow, boring, or not really serving purpose in the story. What sections need to be before others, so important pieces of the plot are introduced in an understandable manner. Editors act as the 'voice of the reader' to an author, making sure that the Author's work is achieving the readability they are desiring.
'Copy writers' - people who are willing to learn the Content Management System of the site and help authors by literally getting their words 'onto the page' so to speak.
'Proof readers' - people willing to read page after page, looking for the incorrect word, miss-spelling, skipped formatting, double words, repeated sentences, missed sentences, etc, etc, etc.
'Reviewers' - people willing to read the stories and help us categorise them, even writing reviews of them so visitors to the site can quickly find stories they'd like to read. Help us do things like gauge how close to canon the stories are, find and highlight good stories that deserve to be considered for promotion to 'featured' stories, perhaps even help judge stories, deciding what will become a featured story.
If this sounds like you, please PM Kristin and ask for access to the Whateley Independant Fiction sections, and welcome to the wonderfully collaborative world of WhatIF!
