  • Is it possible to have it where the "WIKI' tab opens into a new window thus not taking us away from the site?

I know I can right click and choose that option but I was thinking along the lines of those on phones and such.

  • Maybe it would be more feasible just to style the link in a different way or put it in a different place, so it does not appear to be part of the main site...

  • Well, if we are discussing the tabs.

I feel people come to the site for the stories first, then the forum, and the other things relatively less commonly. Following the principle that the most commonly done tasks should be the easiest to do (as long as they are not destructive), we really should be having the Canon Stories, Gen 2 stories, Forum and Mail on the tabs, and the other stuff should be what is in the menu.

So, Home, Canon Stories, Gen 2 Stories, Forum, Mail then the menu with everything else (including the Wiki).

Maybe two menus "Other stories" For Library, FanFic and Blogs, then a second with the WA Universe, history and the Wiki (wiki opening to a seperate tab) and finally the FAQs and Help.

    Just my 2¢

First... there's a pretty big hop from... can the Wiki menu option open in a new window to... let's completely restructure the menu system.

Second... I have a fairly good idea of the flow of traffic for site use (Analytics data). The current menu order is based on that. People who are 'just reading' are landing on the front page, seeing that there is new content in the News post, and clicking on the link to that new article in the Latest Articles sidebar.

People who are logging in and using the site as a whole, tend to hit the forums first. Then they remember to check their mail, and then return to the forums. They don't go through content at all, because mostly, they've already read everything that's been published and are just participating in the community until next Monday when the next new content becomes available. That dynamic may change a bit as we begin doing fan fic publication... or as the Gen 2 releases start meaning we're doing more than one canon story a week. But for now, the order reflects use.

As to the left sidebar menu... non-registered users don't even have one. Registered users have one, but it only has two things... account settings and profile. It's only 15-20 of us canon and fan fic authors who have enough things in that list to really count as a menu.

As to the original request. Done, it now opens to a separate tab. Moving the WIKI link to 'somewhere' else... only really works for fixed screens. And style.. hmm... I'm somewhat limited on template options there. Let me think about it.

    ot part here:
why are second gen canon stories being posted as original canon? Morpheus' wonderful entries are second gen yet in the original listing. ;)

if that menu across the top is the usual un-ordered list adding a couple of empty list items between the FAQ/Help entry and Wiki entry would shift it away. Well, empty as in spaces in them to create the gapping

    Assumption contrary to fact.

Morpheus's stories are not in fact second generation. No second generation stories have been posted yet. They will take place about a decade later IIRC, and no current Whateley students will be present as students at Whateley.

Um ... what? There ARE no 2nd gen stories yet. They are being written (and I know very well what they are and who's writing them) but none have been published. What HAS been published as canon is background stuff in the general universe that is not Gen 2 specific but might be setting up a Gen 2 story (This Side of Paradise, for example).

Morpheus HAS written some year 2 stories which WILL be canon; some, such as Ribbon, are summer stories and thus could be published. Others, such as Sphere and Absinthe, have to wait for a couple more stories to clear.

Hope that clears things up a bit.

Second Gen is jumping to fall 2016 or 2015 or something like that. Long after TK and Kayda, and Loophole and friends have graduated.

  • Do you mean a class of 2059? Because there is *no* Whateley Class of 1959; Whateley-as-a-mutant-school was founded around the mid-sixties. Unless you are referring to the Class of 1959 from the predecessor Whateley-as-a-third-tier-prep-school.

Sorry, got the title wrong by 2 years.

Don't know why, I always think Class of 59 which seems to flow better for me but its "Class of 57" by the Statler Brothers.
