  • Some of you may have noticed that there are new pictures that involve spirits, a Native American girl in a buckskin dress, a blonde, a boy with cat-ears, a cat-woman spirit, a fire circle, etc. These are parts of a piece of artwork I had commissioned for my Whateley stories.

Now for the suggestion - is it possible to allow canon authors and WhatIF authors to post to a new category of "Art and Imagery"? By simply putting an image in a story, it will show up for our fans to enjoy. I'm willing to help police it - keeping out inappropriate art, copyrighted art, surreptitiously-inserted stories, etc - but it would give us a forum to share images, like the one I have and I'm very delighted with and want to share with our community. Even restricted to selected people would be useful - again, I'm willing to help.

  • I noticed one of the new images in the sidebar! Unfortunately, I'd already clicked away, and it vanished before I could get a good look at it.

  • That's why I'd like a 'story category' for publishing images, so we could share original artwork and you could see the images in decent size instead of the small pic on the sidebar.

I'll have to check with Sir Lee about getting it on the Wiki page, so it could be seen in better detail.

  • Stories can have pictures added to them fairly easily.

The wiki can easily host images, but I'm unclear if you are asking about a special category for them. And yes, images can be part of a category too. If you want to upload the full image, I doubt anybody would complain. I would like giving the full credit to the artist if possible.

By the way, I'm looking at the blonde now. Is that supposed to be Cornflower?

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • Yes, the blonde is Cornflower (Debra). I put the images, including the full picture, on the Wiki, and I'm putting in some sub-pictures for the characters.

The artwork was done by Wiktoria Gok - she has some nice stuff on Deviant Art.

  • Let's chat on this El. I've done some tracking down of gallery modules for art and there's some possibilities, but also some limitations.

A generic random image thing like in the sidebar is easy... after all, it doesn't allow for description information... it doesn't link to larger sizes... hell, it ONLY does jpg. It definitely doesn't allow for commenting or anything like that.

  • I've made the main Art Gallery visible now that its not just my Tavi ferret research. You can find this by clicking on the Main Menu option for "WA Universe" and in the secondary menu select "Art Gallery"

This still requires an administrator to upload the images for you (THAT part is going to take me some work to solve, I suspect), but at least you don't have to randomly reload the site hoping to find a new random image available. :)

  • If there are menu options you don't see on your own menu, it's typically because you don't have the access rank to see them. But that shouldn't be the case here, Mage.

  • I know when Mage posted I wasn't seeing it either... but I do now... maybe it was a matter of logging out and back in.
