  • When you are on the "read stories" page and there is a menu on the right that says "original timeline", "2nd gen canon", "featured WhatIF", "Whataley Independent Fiction", etc. When you click the first three, you are taken to a spreadsheet like list so you can find something you are looking for. But when you go to the "Whataley Independent Fiction", you get a bunch of story teasers in reverse release order. Why isn't the far more useful spreadsheet like presentation found there? Maybe I want to sort by author? or title?

Oh, and can a "read more" be added to "A Matter of Fact" Chapter 3? The whole story displays on page two of WhatIF.

  • I checked on A Matter of Fact Part 2 and it looks like someone else has already gone in and put the read more line in... though it still seems a tad long for the page... a rule of thumb I use when I add them to the canon stories is no more than 3 short paragraphs, 2 semi-short or one long one (for a visual example, in A Matter of Fact Chapter 2, the first two are short, the third is Medium and the Fourth is Long... in my opinion)... that way it doesn't take up too much space for a person who's just skimming down the page. I do break this rule occasionally when there's something there that's included to grab people and make them want to read more... then I may cut it short or run it a bit longer.

And I do agree with you on the list format like the previous 3 sections,,, I can't make the change myself but maybe Kristen can when she gets the chance. Though it might be nice to have a way to switch from list view to the expanded blog-style format within each of the categories.

  • Take that up with the WhatIF authors. When we discussed putting WhatIF stories up, the blog style layout with the most recent one at the top ... was what was discussed.

But yes, the "Read More" tags need to be no more than a couple paragraphs in.... in theory, they should encompass ONLY a title and a blurb, with the actual header and story body AFTER the read more tags. Making that happen, though... *shrugs*
