Question New stories format

    • I use a tablet to read the stories and I have had issues with logging on sometimes, so I normally look like a guest. I think I have read all of the stories and I liked the old news format as it was a picture into the life of a real person. But that change is not the issue. When I want to read a story, I like to pick which one to read first. With the latest story already fully displayed, that is hard to do. I liked it better when the latest was like the others with the beginning and a button to click to expand to the whole story.

    As I read the fabrication-lab stories also, it would be nice if you could also include that category of new stories.

    Thanks, we lurkers really do appreciate all that you do even if we rarely say so.

    • Ahh, the ‘reveal’ button is a formatting option, it was added to the site way after most of the stories where, apologies I’ve been a little lax retrospectively adding it to the older stories.

    As for the newer stories, that was an oversight we can correct :)

    P.S. the ‘Fabrication Lab’ stories already have a section for themselves, it’s the “Whateley Independent Fiction” section, and all the fabrication lab authors have access to it to publish stories if they like.

    • Tmac, thanks for the perspective. You're not the first person who has commented that they liked my old regular news postings. They do still exist, they're just not the front landing page anymore. After all, it makes more sense for our landing page / front of the site to be about the actual stories and universe project - that'll be more important as we do some more marketing to increase our audience. While I'm not posting personal and site news with EVERY content release, I will try to post at least two or three times a month... if not more often. I'm also hoping that some of the other authors will post occasionally to introduce things that they are working on or releasing.

    To see them, click on "Discussion" and then, instead of moving directly on to the Forums or your Messages... look at the page Discussions takes you to. That's where those news articles go now (instead of the old Forums Moderation/Policy page).


    As far as stories go... there's a number of ways to get to the stories, though these are easiest to see on a desktop browser, vs mobile. The first is through the quick links in the sidebar that, by category of story (original timeline, 2nd gen, WhatIF, and Library) show the most recent 8-10 released pieces in that category. The second method is by clicking on Stories and then scrolling through blog style posts until you find the one you are interested in and clicking read more to expand it beyond just the first paragraphs. The Third way is to click on Stories and then in the left sidebar menu, click on the category of stories you're looking for... which will bring up a long tabled list of the entire collection of stories in that category... default sorted by the most recent releases first (you can also filter this table by author or resort by any of the columns)..
