Actually, El, I'm pretty sure that's what the "WA Universe" tab up at the top of the page (next to "Content") is for.

the natural changes in canon with the time difference between them will make gen 1 answers confusing for gen 2 content and visa-versa

I agree with this, although I'm undecided about whether they should be split by generation first and then by topic (character, story, concept) or by topic and then generation.Dawnfyre wrote: might be an idea to break the revues, speculation on story arcs and characters into first and second gen also.

I think that fanfiction can stay as one large conglomerate, but dating will become even more important than it was before.

The current commenting/feedback 'track' works like this... you have something immediate and specific you want to say about the story to the author... you post a comment on the story itself. If you have more depth of comment that what you are comfortable posting in a comment or wish to engage in dialogue with the author about an issue, you PM the author. If you wish to discuss and speculate on the impact of the story on the rest of the universe or talk about what might happen next... you post in the review/speculation threads. If you want to go so far as to write formal reviews on a story, you can do so in the Final Exams section.
Now, I get that from a fan perspective; having those review/speculation threads is a useful place to just talk about the characters and stuff in the stories... but 90% of the hurtful comments about stories and their authors happen in those threads. People build up their pet theories and get pretty argumentative when things don't happen the way they want it to or even when other people present opposing perspectives. With the exception of the Concept/Universe section (which more or less replaced the old Q and A thread), the Review threads are always titled with either the character name or the story name. And most of those discussions are only on the last 3-4 weeks of stories. So while it wouldn't be pointless to add entirely separate Review sections for Gen 2... doing so would just generate more sparsely used sections in the forums. And its not like anyone actually in the conversations will have any doubt as to whether a character is Gen 1 or 2... or the story is. The only difference will be in where the discussion can be found for that month while it is active. before it drifts down to the rarely awoken topics pile.
