  • Is there a limit to the size a story is allowed to be posted? Having looked at 2 of the stories posted in the Fabrication Labs parts of them appear to have been truncated leaving the stories incomplete.

  • Many if not most forums have a limit to the number characters allowed per post.

  • Ya, its not even something you can edit in the options. Its based on the limits of the size of a database entry.

  • most forum scripts are not designed to handle the size post used for fanfic postings. Editing the database to change the limit is possible, but can cause corruption of anything already posted, maybe the blog component could be set to allow users to post the fanfics there with a larger post capacity.

Stupidity is a capitol offense, a summary not indictable one.

  • Or break it up into parts.
Once it's known it's no big deal.

I think the "promotion" of stories to the Fan Fic section will start fixing this, from what I see the Fan Fic section seems to be "blog" posts with all that implies, basically the Fan Fics can be formatted the same as for the Canon stories. Encouraging promotions to the FanFic section would also be good for the "casual" readers who are always whinging about "which fanFics are complete and which ons of them are good?"

Once we start doing that we'll no worry so much about the "forum" stories, as obviously they will still be works in progress getting comments and editing :)

  • A size limitation would be nice to know for further reference in those wanting to post.

Of course they could just look at the bottom of the screen and see for themselves and adjust accordingly as many might not grasp what the limit would be.

Of course I plan to post War, Peace and Death Rays between the Devisors and Gadgetters. But thats another story.
