There are also trailers out for Wonder Woman, Justice League, Doctor Strange, Kong: Skull Island (from the Godzilla people), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (which looks like someone took the King Arthur story, and only remembered that there was a sword in a stone), Suicide Squad (i'm not sure about releasing a trailer this close to the movie release), and some others.

I haven't read too much EU, and basically the only two EU characters that I care about are Thrawn and Mara Jade, so I'm plenty excited by the news.
Mara Jade is popular enough that they'd be foolish to leave her out, but if they do include her it will be in the main movies because she's so closely tied to Luke. So I'm being optimistically patient.

You see why I have issues with the SW franchise.

That's not to say that it couldn't be done by a talented writer, but it takes work. And would you rather he go out with a bang, or deteriorate slowly over time as less talented writers eat away at him?

He was stabbed in the back, so out with a bang would have been preferable.

Arcanist Lupus wrote: Eh. While I appreciate wanting Thrawn to stick around for a bit longer, that sort of character is ridiculously hard to write without tearing the rest of your plotting to shreds. Part of his shtick is being unbeatable, which makes him hard to use as a repeat character because the heroes have to win at the end of each arc. And between being likable and talented, he steals the screen and distracts from the heroes. And he's difficult to explain away if you want to put him on a bus.

The heroes don't have to win at the end of each arc, they just have to not completely lose. The Empire Strikes Back definitely ends without the heroes winning. Assuming you want a happy ending, then the heroes just need to win in the end.

That's what I meant by saying "arc" rather than "book". I realize that the terminology is rather vague, though. By my definitions, an arc is composed of several books, and is over when the primary conflict is resolved.Valentine wrote:
