    E.E.Nalley.

I am so sorry for you.

I am in a similar situation.

I currently have neurofibrimatosis. It's a hereditary condition that causes some of the cells surrounding my nerves to start growing and not stop.

While most of the growths are benign, whenever they find a new one, they have to monitor it closely, as there is a 1-2% chance that it will be malignant.

The surgeons still don't know what triggers the growth.

I had my first bout of spinal surgery 15 years ago, and it was similar to what you are about to undergo.

Every time i wake up in the morning, i think "I'm Alive!" and plan my adventures for the day. :D

The odds you have are good. Medical technology has improved incredibly over the last 50 years.

Yes, it IS scary, but it's an improvement on the previous choices.

30 years ago you would have been asked to try some experimental surgery, the same sort of thing that led to the techniques that the surgeons will be using on you.

50 years ago, they would have said "We can't do anything, but give you a lifetime's supply of morphine. Sorry that it's so small."

Today they can operate on your spinal cord, with great odds of success.

There's always a chance of failure, but you can always be hit by a bus when you're crossing the road.

    "Felicis Fossor"

Good luck and good wishes for your surgery.
