Question Resolving some admin issues

    • The following users may or may not be blocked from log in at the moment as a result of their email address being listed with a spambot list. There are a couple ways to resolve this - one is to go to the online list that we reference and clear your mailing address from it. This is relatively easy to do by visiting stopforumspam.com ... search to see if you are listed, fill out the form to get removed if you are. Alternately, you can email me at KristinDarken on my wisdomsprice.com address and let me know that you're not a spambot and that you do still want your whateley account to function and I will override the login block.

    A number of authors (including canon ones) popped up as suspicious too... which makes me think someone just took a list of names/email addies and reported them. While that can be a nuisance in the short term, it takes way more than a handful of reports for this stuff to really lock someone down. You might get a short term block while they make sure its not the front edge of a new source of attacks... but once there's no evidence of continued spam, they identify false reports pretty fast. But that can still cause some problems in cases like ours where even a short term lock triggers a longer term alert.

    Anyway... if you are on this list, you may be unable to login to respond right now... that's not due to anything you've done, far as we know. So let me know if you want assistance in unlocking your account again, if you can't login.

    • I dont know if this is connected in any way, but I'm now getting logged off regularly.

    The 'stay logged on' tickbox seems to have vanished for me. Its rather annoying
    I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

    • I removed it as a way of doing some use tracking. Site login should last 1 hr without activity, if you make at least one activity call during that time, it should reset your counter and keep you logged in.

    • I don't seem to have any problem logging in. Has the issue been resolved since you posted this, or am I just lucky?

    • It just had you listed as someone whose email address or IP shows up on one or more of the spambot lists, Arcanist. Those lists also do a pretty good job of clearing false reports on a regular basis so if you can log in now, you're probably already cleared off the lists.
