in my personal fan fics I added a small indicator panel to each dorm room for flag on campus status and the hot tub for Poe

just little led's to add to the story and it makes sense with the new door locks and a full revamp to the building

you might even add a 'ohhhh SHIT!' light for campus emergency's?

I think that the three semaphore-like LEDs to indicate flag status on every room are actually canon. I'm pretty sure I read a canon story where they were mentioned.

As for hot tub status, well...
(a) I don't think it's needed, since the hot tub is supposed to be used only by previous appointment;
(b) Having a "hot tub status led" on every room sorta flies in the face of the hot tub being, well, secret.
(c) Traditional hot tub demand should go down, now that there are official hot tubs in the Poe basement.

The one thing Poe needs is a nonlight based set of signals, since Jinn and the J-Team can't see the signal lights. Jericho might have the same problem.

It would be pretty easy to whip up an arm-based indicator with a light-sensor. Good learning project for Jade, in fact.

I feel like all of you are missing a very valid point. What about all the delicious hot tub shenanigans you are trying to limit? Won't someone please think of the comedy? Perfect sitcom material being ruined by logic....

The Poe basement hot tubs will be for general use, and will probably be a standard size and shape, with the room they're in probably tiled or wooden. Conversely, the super secret 'cave' tubs provide an altogether different experience - not least of which is the knowledge that they're (relatively) secret (at least to the students - the Senior Leadership Team are likely aware of it, as they'll be aware of most unofficial social / communal facilities [although for ones in the tunnel network, their knowledge might be limited to "somewhere accessed via this branch of the tunnels").

I think that the phone alerts were a G2 thing.

In the run-up to the spring lesbian hot-tub party, I explained about the 'non-obvious' reservation board - that the marker is moved to indicate boys or girls, and post-party, after the door was left unlocked momentarily, it was linked magically to the marker, so if the girls were using it, boys could not get in and vice-versa.

That's ONLY the secret hot-tub. The ones in the cottage are split by genders already, and few would risk hanky-panky there for fear for being caught. Few. Not all.

Which bring to mind the question: just who will end up in, ah, hot water together with Flux?

I was gonna say Gerald instead, but... well, I expect that the sophomores of both sexes have made a point of warning the freshthings about hooking up with him already, and I am sure that word of his tastes will get around to anyone who missed the message soon enough. Though if any of the new guys or girls are into that... erk. Given what he's apparently like, he might try making the term 'sub' stand for 'submarine', though hopefully he (or someone) will pull his foot off of the poor soul's neck before it goes to far. brrr. Someone needs to tell Stoner that 'safe, sane and consensual' is not multiple choice.
