    If not, I heartily recommend it. It's the story of Katherine Johnson and the other black female mathematicians/engineers who helped put the Apollo missions into orbit.


    I worked with the folks in MPAD - the Mission Planning Analysis and Design section who lived Apollo. Recently, Chris Kraft, THE original flight director during Mercury and the one who trained Gene Kranz (among others) requested notes from every surviving MPAD person, documenting Katherine Johnson. The history of MPAD and the recent documentation requests suggest that the film stretches the truth. Significantly. Having worked with MPADers, I'm inclined to believe them.

    Now - did women do important things in the program? Unquestionably yes. Minorities? No doubt - I know several who worked at NASA during Apollo. But the level portrayed in the film is a fiction.

    NASA, in a totally PC move, will officially acclaim the film as 'hidden history comes to light' and so on, but the people who worked there say differently.
