  • My #$)#%*ing desktop has been on the fritz for the better part of a year and I have trouble navigating the site on my phone. The best I can do is open new stories and listen to them on my commute (iOS app Voice Dream to text2speech is amazing!)

Anyway, as I caught up with weekly releases, I went back to some of the classics and WOW are they so different the 2nd time. A few notes and musings below.

    Razzle Dazzle
Wow, Bek, what an achievement. The snappy dialogue, complete arc and background of the supervillain world, the depth of Townsend's relationship with Marla, and the big reveal at the end. Reading it again was like watching Westworld for a 2nd time. Such a gift. Thank you

I really enjoyed this one. It may have been my introduction to JG's writing and knowing everything Mahren has been through, the students' stories, and how much of a douche the Lamplighter can be, it was a real treat.

    A Single Fold
It was my first Whateley whodunit and I completely forgot that Pat Dani is still around. Is Renea active? I would love to pick up with her in the fall of '07!!

But my real joy resides with...
Kayda 10: There's No Place Like Poe
Wow wow wow wow. Just wow. I followed Morpheus to Whateley after reading Round and Round, Absinthe, and the other fan fictions. While these stories eventually became canon, it has been a true joy to see Jinx, Peacock, Porcelain, Downpour, and more reinvented in new stories. And then there's Centurion, whose sneering intro is true to character. I'VE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS!!!! THANK YOU!!!

Though I've been a lurker lately, it does not mean I do not appreciate all that is being done. Gen 2 and the continuation of Gen 1 are remarkable. Thank you to the team for flooding us with new material and keeping this universe alive. With 3 little ones and a 60+ hour/week job, these stories give me depth and release.

I hope I get my desktop more stable soon. It works...for now.

    Cheers,
    Marie
