  • Is it me or is something broken when every time you post something new/reply to an existing thread you get a line in the upper left corner that says. " So and so replied to some such thread." Which is kind of silly when you can see the posters name/profile etc. Oh well...Just another possible bug report. 8P

  • It is neither broken or new... though the patch I put in yesterday DID change its default layout/format. I threw in some quick CSS to get it back to looking more or less like it did before the change, but it might still require some tweaking to be done 'right'. And while, yes, the by default comments of so and so created the topic and so and so replied.. seem unnecessary... such information CAN be changed when you reply to a thread by changing the subject in your reply.

Additionally, there are a couple different means of viewing forums threads... the currently set mode shows ALL replies under 1 original thread topic... but it is also possible to use a nested layout in which replies seat directly under (attached to) the post specifically replied to, unless the responder uses the main reply to the thread instead of a reply button on a specific post. BCTS uses that nested format on their commenting system. In that format, having the message header saying what specifically the person responded to... is quite valuable.

Also, its possible to get forums posts via RSS or to look at the "My Topics" or "Recent Topics" layout to just see new posts without the context of the whole thread... and in that setting, the header is the only thing providing context.
