  • Anyone interested in a little project to build Whateley Academy as a Minecraft Map? step one would be to find a place to host a server, which I have to admit I've never attempted to do before.

  • Part of the problem is that there are plenty of buildings not mentioned or not on the Wiki maps.

Like the existing map [ created before the canon story that contains it ] doesn't show the lake and dock that the campus sits on the shore of.

Are you sure you're not just thinking of the virtual lake Elaine set up in the arena to sail her virtual boat on? I don't remember any mention of an actual lake adjacent to campus.

Dawnfyre is most likely referring to the lake that's mentioned in Seraphim's first story at Whateley, which is described as being on the edge of campus, iirc.

  • There's also mention of a river and lake system nearby in one of the early Tennyo stories, when she and Techwolf go fishing.

  • We could always just start with the map on the wiki, then have a best guess on the underground parts and add other buildings if and when they come up in stories.

Sure it will never be perfect but it should stild be fun.

Ah, that one. Its location isn't actually described. They do use the word here to refer to Whateley while at the lake, and they mention that people are probably trying to spy on them, so it's at least nearby. Since nobody ever mentions it though, and Lodgeman returns her to campus proper with his jeep, I would assume that Whateley itself is not close enough to be described as "sitting on the shore".

The same story also mentions a pond in a copse of trees with a bench overlooking it (it's where Englund sicced Oak on the Don at the same time the above lake scene was happening). This one has a footpath leading to it; presumably it is much closer than the lake. Sebastiano still describes it as "all the way out here!" though, so it's probably a good ways out from the center of campus.

Inside the Nether. That way you can have "doors" (portals) in both Poe and Hawthorn, and they'll both link to the same portal inside the Nether.

nope, Bek's Reflections in an evil eye is the only story that specifically mentions campus edge dock and lake. With Zentih and Sahar sitting on it waiting for a delivery from Vamp [ which was actually a trap for Nex ]

That was "Vamp", I think. Reflections in an Evil Eye was about Chaka getting Zenith and Sahar back together.

  • If you want a detailed "inner" map of buildings, I have laid out the NEW Poe, and I have floorplans for Melville (Gen 1) and Schuster. The Wiki has the New Poe map on it.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that reference.

Vamp wrote: Tara ran through the first refrains and went ‘aha!’ “Deck the halls… with boughs of holly!” she pulled out one of the maps and checked the coordinates. “It’s Lake Holly! There’s a lake near the school, I heard that there are summer camps on the other side of the lake and stuff, but there’s a landing for boats right here,” she stabbed the map, “which is right where these coordinates are!”

    “And ‘boughs of holly’?”

“There’s a bunch of trees near there, where kids sometimes go to make out. I guess that’s what they’re talking about.”

Vamp wrote: It was only maybe fifteen minutes or so to the place at Lake Holly, but we wasted the better part of an hour wandering around, confusing our trail, doing spy movie stuff to lose any follow, and trying to spot Bravo (there was no way we were gonna spot Nex; give the headcase his due, he’s GOOD!), and we walked through some woods and over a rise overlooking the landing. “Look!” Tara said, “There’s Zenith!” she pointed at the dock, and sure enough, there was Zenith, waiting, arms crossed, foot tapping.

So that sounds like it's probably around a mile out from Dickinson (which was where they got the clue to go to Lake Holly). It's too bad we don't know which direction it is. If this map can be trusted regarding directions to Whateley's neighbors, I would guess north. According to that map, west of Whateley is Range 6 and south is the Grove, so that makes me think it's less likely to be in those directions. East would put it between Whateley and the road to Dunwich, which might be a tight fit. We know there are campsites between Whateley and Dunwich, so putting it north along the road would fit with what Tara said about a summer camp on the lake.
