  • Any one know what the mythological serpent with a head on both ends is called?

  • Darn, beat by that much. Was going to say amphisbaena as well. That is also the name of a genus commonly known as worm lizards.

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

  • I did't think it had legs but I might be miss-remembering.

  • Other the a generic label of "two headed serpent" I can't find what I was picturing: a snakey version of the pushmi-pullyu from Dr Dolittle.

  • But they are real...

Amphisbaena was mentioned already. The Aztecs also had a serpent with a head on each end, though I have not found a definitive name for it. There are also a number of legends about such critters, many lack a specific name however. There are also a number of species that have marking that just look like they have a head at both ends, but in reality only have one head.

To get specific names, you would likely have to narrow down the search to particular regions, time periods and cultures. That and likely someone that is an expert at research or on folk lore for your selected time/place/culture.
