  • Watch the youtube video below up to 0:30, and remember this: Every, goddam x men movie starts with a pointless narration about genetic mutation. Why doesn't every Whateley story from now on do the exact same thing to parody that (This is a actual suggestion, not a Aprils Fools thing). It would be comical, and appropriate.

I insufficiently believe in my skill to produce such a masterpiece.

No!!! Not the video, just put a few words about genetic mutation at the start of each story as a little nod towards the deep, deep origins of the Whateley Universe's concept.

  • BTW, at 3:35 in the video, I imagined a simular criticism of the Whatleyverse:

"Ah, T.H. White. Yet again, Carson is caught quoting classic literature, instead of lecturing Ayla on how not to fight evil. But whatever, I guess poetry matters and Sh*t...somehow"

  • I never minded the Mutation openings. There are certain actors that could read the NY city phone book, and you would be enthralled by their voices. Patrick Stewart is one, certainly. James Earl Jones, of course. Liam Neeson, Avery Brooks, Tom Baker.

  • Also, there will always be people seeing the movie who have never seen an X-man comic book or even the previous movies, and so are unfamiliar with the setting. The voice-over intro is meant to provide enough of a data dump to bring those folks up to speed while setting the tone for the movie itself.

Folks coming to the WU stories from Crystal Hall, Big Closet, Sapphire's Place, or TV Tropes likely have much more of an idea of what they're about to read.

    Forum-posted ideas are freely adoptable.

Ya... you'd think. And yet, there are so many authors posting non-canon stories on Fictionmania and BCTS that don't even post that they aren't canon stories and are SO FAR from canon its ridiculous. And yet, they have people who cheer them on and tell them their stories are the best Whateley ones ever. Which implies that there are both readers and writers out there who really just don't understand the Universe at all. :P
