Feel free to discuss any typical forums accepted topic here, Whateley or otherwise. Let's avoid the usual suspects: politics, religion, and so forth that tend to result in flame wars and angered forums readers. Other topics will be considered fair game unless they prove to be too volatile, at which point we'll use Devisor created anti-flame chemicals on the subject.
It's finally been announced, and the trailer is out. I've been a fan of the Orville since day one, and boy am I glad it exists. If not for it, all there would be to satisfy my former-Trekkie-ness (No longer a Trekkie: I'm a Orvellian now!!!) would be that STD tomf**kery, and nothing else. I mean, the Orville is SO much better than that piece of cr*p Alex Kurtzman tries to pass off as Star Trek!!! But, enough of that. Let's talk about the good things in life, namely the Orville:
- It looks like we'll be seeing more of Robert Picardo as the father of Alara Kitan, the Orville's young security officer. In addition, recent rumours seem to show that Alara will be absent from the Orville from the second episode onwards, as that episode apparently takes place on her home planet, and after filming wrapped on that instalment the actress departed to work on a new Netflix show, as evidenced by her twitter and fans camping outside the Orville filming lot.
- We'll also apparently be seeing a episode with time travel to the present day, as we can clearly see a Orville crewmember firing a FN P90 SMG at something in one of the trailer parts. There's also a scene apparently set in the desert, with soldiers that look suspiciously like those from today.
- The Orville is just as beautiful as ever. It'll be a shame when they eventually crash it into a planet/blow it up/other means of getting the USS Orville B.
- The humour doesn't seem to be getting better however, and a lot of the jokes were framed rather badly by the background music.
- It looks like Isaac will be getting some more screen time, as will the bulbous-headed alien whose cropped up a lot. Strangely, I didn't spot Yaphit in the trailer. Maybe he's going to be removed...
- From the look of it, Mercer is going to be stranded on a alien world, and will have to escape while being hunted.
- FIRST CONTACT STUFF!!!
- The Orville EVA suits look pretty damm cool. First time we've seen them, though they don't look that different to the Star Trek EVA suits.
- It looks like we're going to be seeing Selaya and other mentioned, but not shown planets. It also looks like we're going to be seeing a episode where the Orville is stranded. Or that could be the time travel episode. It might not even be time travel.
- The speech at the beginning was awesome.
