I wonder what Nightbanw's reaction to the Buffy reboot announcement might be, if she's still alive in gen2.

It might also depend on whether clients have media privileges in ARC Black or not. I like to think that her reaction would be less racist and more self-aware than (for example) Anita Sarkeesian's.
... but she probably will cross something bigger and nastier than that orichalcum sword can dispatch.

Assuming she gets to keep the sword. For some reason I see someone else taking it from her due to her being insane.

I'm reserving my judgment on the reboot. I have seen hints implying both that it's a full reboot and that it's a "Vampire Slayers, the Next Generation" concept. And that makes a huge difference in... pretty much everything about the series.
Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

I’m going to reserve judgement until I see it too, if it’s a good reboot I’ll watch it, I really enjoyed Buffy and hope it has a similar vibe to the original.

Didn't the end of Buffy pretty much wipe out Sunnydale?

Yes, it did. And also activated all the Slayers worldwide, meaning that Buffy (and Faith) was no longer the one and only, but the head of an army.
But ending Sunnydale does not mean that there are no stories worth telling. Word is that Eliza Dushku was offered a "Faith the Vampire Slayer" series that would have followed up on Buffy, but would be structured more like an "on the road" sort of thing, with a very small permanent cast, each arc going to a different place. But she opted for doing "Tru Calling" instead.
There are also the Buffy comics, in which a lot of stuff has happened. I haven't actually read them, but it seems that at some point all the magic in the world is destroyed, with the Slayers reverting to normal humans and stuff. Later on, apparently the magic is restored... that would give an opportunity to go back to a single Slayer again, and tell the story of this new Slayer, who probably wouldn't be called Buffy.
Which is all irrelevant anyway if they go the route of a full reboot.
Even if they do go that route, one thing that gives me hope is that the new showrunner is not trying to do exactly the same thing all over again -- the mere fact that she's suggesting a non-caucasian protagonist is proof of that. Thing is, while the overall series was good, some of the plotlines are dated and some are definitely stupid. Different actors, with different strengths, will naturally impose a different dynamic to the series. Even the relationship between Giles and the Scoobies would have to be handled differently in these post-"Me Too" times. I think the worst thing they could do would be to follow the original series too closely. Draw inspiration, yes; but don't retread the same stories the same way.

Oh I wasn't saying that I was just curious. I liked Buffy but wasn't a super fan. I missed like 1/3 of the episodes and stuff. Honestly I liked Angel better. Mainly cause it seemed to make me think more.
But yeah if they did a sequel series would be neater focusing in the new players with Buffy in the background mainly. Simply cause also iirc she was a amped up super slayer at the end and anyone with her would be fodder against most of the things that could threaten her unless they were all super slayer to.

One of the things that helped the TV series get its feet under it was the fact that it wasn't too much like the movie. Another thing going for it (from the few episodes I saw) was that it didn't take itself too seriously.

had a perv thought; I wonder if the new slayer will "free" like her predecessor did after she learned there was a drinking game (I believe) that involved her wardrobe.

1. I’m good as long as they don’t do a Firefly reboot or revival without Whedon. We ALL saw how well the reboots of another cult classic TV show went, and how well The-Prequel-that-shall-not-be-called-Anything-but-STD went without ANYONE who had even WORKED A F**king CAMERA on the same series before.
2. IF whedon is doing it: Goddam it, I’m f**king ready for this!!! Give it to me already!!! If not...there will be blood. There will be fire. There will be pointy wooden sticks.
3. Hopefully they don’t f**k it up like CBS fucked up with STD. It’s been 10 months, and I STILL want Alex Kutzman’s decapitated head to hang on my wall as a trophy. That FUCKER will DIE SCREAMING...
<takes a few deep breaths, loses the manic, psychotic expression. Comes out of a drick episode>
Ok. I’m good now...BUT HE WILL CHOKE ON HIS OWN BALLSACKS!!!

Note: I do not actually want to murder a certain writer/producer. As heinous as his crimes against fandom, he doesn’t deserve to suffer in such a fashion. No one deserves to have their family jewels shoved down their windpipe, or to be decaptitated and hung like a moose on a wall. This post was for comedic effect only. Sorry for any distress this nay have caused readers.

Sarah Michelle Geller got fed up with fans doing drinking games based on the number of time her bra straps showed, so later seasons she went bra free. Or so I read.
