  • OK!!! FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO GET THE STUFF FROM THE CHAT INTO THE WIKI, PLEASE LISTEN CAREFULLY!!!

I will attach the logs as a .txt file here. DO NOT READ FROM THE .TXT!!! It is almost COMPLETELY Indecipherable, and requires this website to properly read. THE TXT IS ATTACHED TO THIS MESSAGE, AND WILL ALSO BE REPOSTED WITH THIS MESSAGE IN THE 'WIKI WIKI WIKI' AREA!!!

Hope everyone enjoyed Crystal Con. The site will stay up for next year and the future beyond that. See everyone next year for Crystal Con 2019.

  • I had a lot of fun getting to know some more of the fans and some of the authors. It was good having it on a weekend because with members all over the world it can get late or early. I am already excited for next year.

  • I liked the enthusiasm of the fans, and the fact we could have both the author qna and a general chat going simultaneously. When I was on, I enjoyed the chat. Unfortunately for chat time, I was also unpacking my kitchen (finally!) so I didn't get to be on the chat as much as I would have wanted.

  • It was fun, and nice to chat to some of the fans.
Look forward to doing another one in the future.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

  • It was good. Talked to some people, argued with others, and I've heard about stories to look forward to and I've picked up a few ideas for an in-progress WhatIF story.

The only downside has been a friend from Jax on another Discord still hasn't checked in (as far as I know).

  • I wasn't able to be on as much as I wanted, but I enjoyed it. If it happens again I'll happily join in.

And thanks to all the authors for taking the time to answer questions.

  • Yes I enjoyed it, mostly just reading everybody else’s contributions though I did comment a bit on the first day when it was getting started. Would have moderated if asked, But more experienced people than me did a good job under the circumstances :)

Would I be alone in thinking that it would nice to have the con every 6 months rather than annually? B)

  • For people who felt the fans did not update the wiki, a lot of fans do. It is just new stuff that has been popping up. I myself tried but gave up because I have no way of linking the wiki to this site. I can only link the wiki to other pages within it.

Any work on updates is worthwhile. I'm sure that Sir Lee and Malady appreciate it.

  • It's not really a great idea to link the wiki directly to site URLs anyway. Site URLs are dynamically created and even where a direct call to a specific story 'seems' stable and stays the same for a long period of time... that's only true in so long as I don't have to do repairs to the database or in some way change the index system. If I ever DO have to do such a thing, pretty much every link to the site other than the front page will die.

Besides, there's plenty to do to put information into the WIKI without adding links. And we always appreciate those people who are doing the information gathering and posting it. Even the authors find a well researched wiki handy. In many cases, its a better resource than our own collections of plans and story outlines. :)

I have said again and again: do whatever you can, don't try to figure out all the wiki tricks off the bat. If the best you can do is to insert (this information is incorrect, the character actually is a mage and not an exemplar as has been shown in such-and-such story) in the middle of the text, go ahead! Somebody will come later and spruce it up.
The WYSIWYG editor is not perfect (I prefer using the source code editor myself, but I'm a nerd), but it is easy to use and does the basics well enough.
If you don't feel comfortable doing even that... you can always use the talk page... but then your name won't show up in the main page's edit history.
If you don't feel comfortable doing even that... you can always post the info here in the forums, or send a PM to one of the wiki regulars. But then you won't get credit in the wiki.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • Thank you for your clarification. There are more than one instances that somebody in the con that somebody suggested that the author who wrote Sara is in the convention. Now I know that it was just confusion of similar names.

  • It wasn't just confusion of names. Both E. E. Nalley (using his horseman nickname - Brannick) and Branwen (Dr Bender's current moniker) were present at the Con.

  • Oh okay. I guess that I am the few that were confused. I was thinking that they were the same person in the Con. Lol

  • Had a good time with the con. Lots of people chatting, lots of fun had, and a pleasure to meet with some of the authors too. Sometimes I had to look away to try and avoid some spoilers, but that couldn’t be helped.

Thanks to those who proposed this and helped make it happen.
