Yes. I Legit *squee'd* 4 times.
1. That very obvious voice-over. It's that person we know!
2. "The Hell are you doing out here, Picard?" Did not see that person's involvement coming
3. "Engage!" - He said the thing!
4. "I can see that Captain" - Did not see that person's involvement coming either.
I'm in the "we have to wait for next year?"

Your thoughts?

Maybe not. We shall see if they stink up the screen or not.
I'll be fair - I'll give Trek one last chance.

My interest is piqued.
And I'm the guy who'll tell a trekkie that trekkies are a heretical cult to their faces just for the joy of the outraged expressions.
If i hear good things I will find a way to watch.

...but damm, this looks good. Second time's the charm, CBS? Maybe you'll do a good job this time?
...the only concern I have is the "special" character. My Sue-dar is going off like a frakking air-raid siren. Also, is anyone else getting "Logan" vibes from this? Another thing Sir Stewart has been in?
...also, thank the frakking Lords of Kobol that
...if they frak this up, I'm done forever with CBS and anything they make. It will be the ultimate betrayal of the best gorram character in science fiction. Never again will I be deceived by them.

We shall see what happens. But if it's true, it's going to turn off fans when they feel like they came in in the middle of the movie....

You used "CBS" and "learn from their mistakes" in the same sentence - that's sooooo adorable!

As for the girl, I believe she is the daughter of Picard and the Borg Queen, engineered by the Borg to be a fail-safe, in case the collective were destroyed. And as she was seen in the Romulan concentration camp, I believe she was on board the cube that the Romulans discovered.

I hope they do a better job. I stopped watching Trek TV half-way through Deep-space Nine. It might seem silly, but I got really annoyed at the fact that the station stayed this little hole in the wall remote outpost even after a stable worm-hole to another quadrant of the galaxy was discovered next door.
There should have been a massive infrastructure buildup in the area.
It`s as if you were doing a western and the small sleepy town where it takes place suddenly discovered the biggest gold deposit ever discovered, and yet never grew any bigger over the next few years.
In my opinion, the real story potential would have been how this small backwater system developed into a major hub, the politics, and trade potential could have made for huge story arcs.
Like I said, a nitpick, but it was on top of not really enjoying the xenophobic changeling storyline.

As for regional blocking in Youtube, one easy way to get around it is to use one of the several websites that offer to download Youtube videos to your computer -- I recently used it to download some SNL videos which were unavailable for Brazil. A more comprehensive way would be to sign up for a VPN service, but I'm not really interested in that at this point.

And given the forces they discovered on the other side it was in the best interest of all parties to build a blockade fleet with weaponized stations surrounding the exit point.
Again, my opinion.
I actually think the real reason was the need to keep the show's budget small. They'd have had to add numerous characters and special effects.

As far as building up weapons stations, Bajor signed a non-aggression pact with the Dominion. That would fly in the face of that. You can argue that upgrading the station's weapons is for the defense of the station, not so much when you liter the vicinity of the wormhole with weapons platforms. (Despite that, the entrance to the wormhole was mined by the Federation.)
It's a balancing act, the Federation is officially there only in an administrative capacity. This has been pointed out on a few occasions where Kira had to drop the "On behalf of the Bajoran government, I must formally protest this action."... of course, once she finished saying that, she usually said " Now that that's out of the way", and joined in whatever Sisko and co. were up to. As for the small budget thing, DS9 had some of the most complex battle scenes done for any televised trek up to that point, war isn't cheap... especially to film. Granted, they had to occasionally reuse some of those shots on a few occasions. That's why Klingons always come diving in from out of the sun, and Miranda-class ships are getting holes punched through through them left and right.

Rose Bunny wrote: My theory is that after future Janeway infected the Borg with the neurolytic pathogen, there were Borg vessels that shut down and drifted lifelessly. The Romulans found one such cube and went about harvesting technology from it, hoping to restore an Empire that was decimated by the supernova that destroyed Romulus and Remus.

Unfortunately...we already know the plot.
Why?
Because CBS ripped it off a idea Brian Fuller had registered with the WGA.
Ok, so spoilers ahead.
Meanwhile, Picard is the Ambassador to the Romulan Star Empire. Feeling he has failed, he resigns from Starfleet, and settles down at the Picard Chateau. He is then suddenly forced out of retirement, and that's basically where the information ends
Now, this may seem to be conjecture. But it's not. This entire scenario is right out of Brian Fuller's WGA-registered pitch for 'Data and Picard', a show that he presented to CBS as a option back when STD was in development.
With CBS currently failing to defend themselves against the copyright infringement allegations of Anas Abdin (for those who don't know, Star Trek Discovery was ripped off the yet-unreleased indie video game Tardigrades by Egyptian developer Anas Abdin, who is currently fighting CBS in court...and winning), the fact that they have used someone else's idea without properly crediting them first isn't going to help them much. Hell, Brian Fuller allegedly pitched Data and Picard to both Jeri Ryan and Brent Spiner, both of whom are starring in Star Trek Picard.
This was all revealed in a podcast by Robert Myer-Brunnet, a friend of Brian Fuller; who's also heavily involved in the production of Star Trek: Picard. It's also been reported by Nerdrotic and Midnight's Edge on YouTube.

BUT... Mihn, A little warning here... you're dangerously close to going on another 'fan rant' here. So... take that into consideration as you respond going forward in this thread.
