...it's true. I'm now incapable of feeling anger at how much my favourite science-fiction TV franchise has been screwed over by the makers. I'm actually just apathetic about this, and I'm actually not sure how to feel about this.
For three years now, I have felt nothing but unceasing rage at how a small group of morons could screw over something so beloved for so many people. I've ranted, raved, made a complete ass of myself online (which many people here have experienced firsthand), and for all that angst, nothing good has come of it.
But now? I just feel empty. I mean, sure! You've made it so that the eventual fate of the United Federation of Planets is to essentially be the Systems Commonwealth from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda: destroyed and decimated. Forgotten. Nevermind that the Federation is a major part of Star Trek. You have to get rid of them so that Our Lord and Saviour Michael fucking Burnham can have more messiah-moments, and essentially be the most wonderful and powerful person in the fucking galaxy. But despite that sort of bullshit usually inciting a blood rage in me...I just don't give a shit. I mean, there's definitely negative emotions there. I don't like it. But I can't bring myself to hate it.
I actually never thought I'd say this...but I just don't care about Star Trek anymore. Any of it. The people behind that show have completely killed any ounce of love or connection I previously felt towards the show, and that's just sad. Twenty-something years of devotion to a TV franchise, and I just can't care about it anymore. It just feels wrong.

this is how I feel about Star Bores now.
And Dr. WTF.
And pretty much any franchise where the producers decided that "Our core audience happiness is undesirable" and promptly drops trousers and lays a steamer on the franchise.
and then get outraged that the people who supported them for years now hate their franchise.
go figure.

Minh: Great to hear that you're more chilled out about this.
JG: Yes.
Like i have complained about before, this is normal for the Media and Film industries.
Look at the lag time, between commissioning a script, and, finally releasing a show.
By the time a show is released, the commissioning Exec is already moving on to the next job, at which point the Exec that follows on to them, won't get any credit for the previous Exec's work.
Hence the "Change For Change's Sake."
This is also why i like the headspace here.
Artist's who are more interested in sharing the story-telling, and not playing monkey-troupe pack-hierarchy power-games.

Oh, there is a seasons 3? I hadn't noticed. I unsubscribed from all that. I'll probably look at it for the pretty pictures.
It always reminds me of that book "Bullsh*t Jobs". The author explains there that so many people get involved in the production of these shows these says and all they have to make a contribution just to feel they are worth all the money spend on them, the end result is a compromised mediocre mess in a very typical "many cooks spoil the broth" way. Why that happens has some interesting historical reasons.

How else are you going to get a decent kebab in orbit?
( In the South of France, there's a Franco-Turkish fusion cuisine, that includes horse-meat kebabs. If you're a carnivore, they are delicious. It also beats the London kebabs where you don't know who you are eating...
)

I think my first experience with those were mid drinking escapade on the streets outside of Clark Air Force base (that was the Phillipines). That was on my way to my first deployment of cutting circles in the Gulf (Desert Storm). Clark closed shortly after that and I'm pretty sure no one missed the rat on a stick and formaldehyde beer for very long. We didn't stop there my second tour west.

The only series I've seen reimagined was Cattlecar Galaxia - er, oops - Battlestar Galactica.
I'm officially done with Star Bores and Star Wreck. Once it's been reimagined and redone, usually a cultural icon sucks.

yep!
What really kills it for me is when a great show suddenly decides to that 'just' taking a regular seat on the PC bandwagon is not enough and LEAPS into the drivers seat! Then starts to beat the beasts that drive or haul it into a running rage "SEE US WE ARE PC TOO!" the new crazed driver yells as if trying to make up for the past somehow?
then add how all the movies HAVE to kiss the boots of China to get in their door for distribution there! (ahh how money buys souls and honor these days)
( small little known fact..China has a 'list' of movies that are chosen by lottery to be shown in the nation and its very small...BUT...if you 'film' parts in china and use 'their' actors...you are 'domestic' and do not need the 'list'...now you know why most movies have some scenes from China in them over the last 20 years or so?)
