  • Just watched the first one and wow, it was great.

Looking forward to much more. It's been a long time since the 90's!

  • In 2006, with one band, we went to the local theatre pub for a post-gig pint.

We were sitting gossiping about how the gig went, and i saw Patrick Stewart drinking with some of his colleagues across the bar.

I went over to say hello, and to say that i enjoyed his work.

After shaking his hand, i spent a few minutes chatting with him, before returning to the band.

He was working on a performance of The Tempest, playing the role of Prospero.

As he was discussing Shakespeare with the rest of the cast, so thankfully, i managed to restrain myself from fan-gushing, "Dude! I saw you on Star Trek!" :roflmao:

It was one of the few times i have managed to restrain my enthusiasm, as i didn't feel it was appropriate to the occasion. :D

  • As much as dealing with some parts of fandom must be really grating, Sir Patrick is on record about being really grateful about his time on Star Trek -- not only because ST and the subsequent X-Men role (which, let's be frank, he only got due to the exposure in ST:TNG) made him financially independent to the point that he can finance the plays he wants to do out of his own pocket, but also because his ST:TNG co-stars taught him to take himself less seriously and have more fun.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • I'm finding the show both good and strange. As in its strange for a Startrek show to have such a slow paced season long arc. I'm just so used to the old new arceery episode format. So far we have had no real subplots that resolved in one episode. Please note I inted this to be an observation rather than a complaint,as I am liking the show a lot.

It's kind of Deep Space Nine-ish that way.

  • It was okay. Better than Discovery in a way, more solid than at least one season of Enterprise. But DS9 & TNG still trump it. Likely cuz there was better writing.
