  • Wonder what grade this outfit would get in costume class. Eliot learns the importance of focus when transforming.

  • Well, the boots look practical, and there is a utility belt (however small). It probably has pretty good freedom of movement and support. No idea how strong it is. I don't think it's particularly stylish. So, probably 8 or 9 out of 10 for practicality, 3 or 4 for style.

  • Definitely more practical than the Cheerleadra outfit (no flappy bits like the skirt and cape). Bonus points: the form includes shorter hair. It's a less modest outfit though; the Cheerleadra top wasn't painted on. Modesty can be useful when wanting people to take you seriously. Not that looking like a cheerleader is all that great at garnering respect either. But from a merchandising angle, too much immodesty can reduce your market share when it comes to the younger audience. Given this is Elliot we're talking about, I can't see him intentionally leveraging sex appeal to compensate by drawing in older audiences. So, if he was actually interested in merchandising, he'd probably want to come up with a less clingy outfit. And yeah, the actual design is pretty bland as well.

  • It's got vacuum sealed boob socks. How does that work?

Use the permanent link: www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2133 The plain link in the first post will point to a different comic on Monday.

  • The first Saturday strip explained his origin. Clumsy kid in a police evidence locker. Though from the stuff in that locker the cop shop must be in the town next to Whatley

  • I was actually expecting Elliot to have gotten his first non-female transformation, with the male version of his superhero (Cheerleadra) spell.

Ellen is the magically created twin sister of Elliot. She was created when Elliot touched a magic stone said to be able to break curses when he was stuck in the V5 female transformation thanks to Ted's transformation gun. www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=925 It was broken before he could turn Elliot back to normal.

After being created, Ellen had the power to induce the V5 female transformation. Elliot soon discovered he had the power to turn into girls. I think both powers was a side affect of the gem.
Last Edit: 9 years 4 months ago by Quadhouse. Reason: Hmm. Inserted a link and got a map. Not sure how I did that

I think when he talked about how the boy got his powers he was referring to the web comic he linked to.

Interesting thing about Elliot is that it's not that he has the ability to turn into girls, but that he 'has' to do so due to 'magic' He can either choose to do so voluntarily to bleed off the excess magic in his system, or have it happen spontaneously.

I was talking about the comic I linked and not El Goonish. I already knew about how Elliot got his sister Ellen as I followed that arc when it first came out. I kinda left it after awhile as it was:

    a. getting very few updates.
    b. was losing interest as it bogged itself down.

Now I'm starting to relook at it.

And for those interested here is a Wiki link: El Goonish Shive Wiki

This hasn't been true in the last 4-5 years.

Why did you post about a different webcomic in this thread rather than starting a new thread?
