Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

  • Let me add a Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and all that. As others have said it's been a hard year for some, but here we are, now just kick back relax with friends and family both in the Real World, and the ones in this world of our shared imagination.

To all those out there that have made me laugh, cry, or think. Thank you.

Hey there's a shoggoth on the roof? You think he'd want some eggnog?

Some are called 'mad' and shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day.
Others are called 'writers' and they do pretty much the same thing.

Um aren't Shoggoths native to Earth? Last time I checked the Elder Things made the Shoggoths to build their cities here on Earth so you can't banish them anymore than you can banish a lion or a blue whale...oh wait I get it...oops I shouldn't have said that right?

Uh nothing to see here, please move along, uh look it's uh um Haley's Comet...Not buying it huh?

  • Technically, the elder things did not make the shoggoths here; they imported them.

But since they imported them from a time beyond our time, you could make the case that they can't be banished.

But then again, with the right spell, you can banish most anything. It's not like all things from the depths of space are extra-dimensional, and the mythos spells still manage to give them pause.

    So really, take your pick.

  • Ya... banishings aren't really a 'send home' so much as they are a 'get out' sort of intention.

And... only on the Whateley forums would a thread about wishing people happy holidays get into an esoteric discussion of banishing rituals... :P

  • Well it may seem to be off topic, but mythos free holidays are happy ones, while ones with a shoggoth in your house may be a little awkward.

Also, I'm pretty drunk right now, so I regret nothing. :)

??? We all wish to return to the warm squishiness of being in the womb, before something grabbed us and forced us out. Throw in some fetishes and it explains everything?

Didn't get that far. But I've been devoting time to a detailed study of cognac so I can more accurately write Charge. And that makes for a happy holiday. the cognac, not the writing.

    Happy Hollandaise.
    Oops, that's Holidays.
The first would only make sense to a chef. Which I'm not.

    I blame the cognac...

  • The day after Christmas, traditionally the day servants and peasants were presented with gifts by the lord of the manor.

These days the boss pays because it's a public holiday :)

  • Remember,a Shoggoth is for life, not just for Christmas...

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

And here I thought it was named for boxing up all the crap gifts to put aside to re-gift next year to people you didn't like :silly:

From what I understand, in the good-old days, the servants got off the day after Christmas, so they 'boxed up' meals for the family of the manor.

I boxed up my kids, wrote a sign over the box after punching out holes. Please Santa, I want a puppy instead. Best day I ever had. Playing with the puppy.

  • Merry Boxing Day, or whatever, and I bring Glad Tidings: I've heard from Dr. Bender, he's doing well and still working on art for Sara(!), but RL is being very busy with this, that and especially the other.

So, one of our strayed lambs accounted for. Still nothing from that strange, desolate Castle known only as 'Diane'.
