  • Thank you guys for helping the site so much. You make me feel bad about myself because I do nothing but read and enjoy. I am just not really good at anything so I couldn't help even if I was not really lazy. But you guys deserve a lot of gratitude and recognition.

    Signed, Horrid

  • I concur. Thanks to all of you who have been helping out with the behind the scenes work needed to get the new site up to speed.

  • Yes, thank you very much for all the help you have given Kristin, Warren, and everyone else with the huge task of transferring all the stories over here, Phoenix-Spiritus and Valentine. It is appreciated very much.

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

  • Hee hee hee ... this must be what they mean when they say "no good deed goes unpunished": would you guys know if the multi-chapter stories "There's Something About Billy" and "Loose Cannons" are going to be transferred to the new web site?

I would not bother to ask except that two different links, one from the Whateley Wiki, now indicate that these stories have been taken down. It made me think that maybe a few stories from the old canon stories website have been deemed unworthy for the new website.

Of course, it is also possible that the hard-working and over-taxed Phoenix-Spiritus and Valentine have just not gotten around to it.

I am totally OK with anything that you guys decide to do or not do .... just very curious. I am in no way pressuring you to do ANYTHING!!! Many thanks again and again for all that you and Kristen and the other authors and helpers have done to give me so many hours of joy.

  • GAHHH!!! I have found "Loose Cannons" in the Original Canon on this wonderful website! I can not help but think if I keep looking I will find "There's Something About Billy" as well (a sweet and poignant story about Tennyo if there ever was).

Rather than ask about other presently absent (how is THAT for an oxymoron? presently absent?) material I will just quietly wait and watch. TYVM again everyone! :)

  • ALL the canon stories will be migrated. ALL of them. NO exceptions.(*)

But we aren't there yet. We (and by "we" I really mean "they", that is, Phoenix, Valentine and Kristin) are something like 60-70% done.

Until last week, there wasn't a need to rush because the unmigrated stories could still be accessed through the old site. But that changed when Piper took the old site offline due to one hacker attack too many, which was impacting the other websites BigCloset hosts.

So it may take a few weeks more until everything is up again. But it WILL be available again. There's no such thing as "stories deemed unworthy for the new website."

The Library is going to be migrated too (although now that there is a reason to step on it regarding the canon stories, they may take a backseat for a while).

Canon stories which were only available in the forums will ALSO be migrated. Several people have full sets of all stories, including the ones from the forums, so they are NOT lost, just... temporarily out of reach.

What's NOT going to be migrated? Essentially, the old forums -- for a bunch of technical reasons it would be too hard to migrate them. It is *possible* that at some time in the future what backups of them exist will be made available as a read-only resource, not integrated into the new forums. But that's way down in the priorities list. It may be 2018 before Kristin finds the time to look into it, much less to actually do it.

Which means that a LOT of fanfictions, some of them very good, are not going to be available anytime soon, and perhaps never -- if bringing back the old forums proves to be not practical, they won't be migrated by hand. It's not that we don't like them; it's that legally, we are not allowed to. If the author wants to repost them in the new forums, or in the new dedicated Fanfiction section, it's their prerogative, not ours.

(*) Well, ONE exception: there was one non-canon April Fool's story that had been pulled from the old site, because reader reaction was... not very favorable. So that one (probably) won't be migrated. But it wasn't available in the old site either, so most people won't know the difference. And, as I mentioned, it was not canon, so it doesn't even count as an exception.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.
