  • Does anybody around here play Sentinels of the Multiverse? It's been on my mind recently because we're in the middle of the kickstarter for the final expansion, which blew past it's $40k goal in 8 minutes, and has now reached 17 of the 19 stretch goals.

For those unfamiliar: SotM is a cooperative superhero card game based on a fictional comic book universe - by which I mean that the comic books don't exist, but this doesn't stop cards from providing comic issue numbers in the flavor text citations. You and your friends play as a team of heroes working together to take down a villain.

  • I don't have any of the expansions yet, but I got the core game for Christmas. It's an awesome game, and the flavor text is hilarious. "When I feel like slowing down, I speed up instead. True story."

  • My favorite flavor text is probably always going to be Wrathful Gaze. "FOOLISH CREATURE! STAND NOT BEFORE RA!" Ra is the most amazing ham.

There's a lot of great flavor text though. Just wait until you get Guise. He's the SotM version of Deadpool (technically he was inspired by Ambush Bug, but yeah, Deadpool) "Crush your enemies, drive them before you, and laminate their women!"

Also, the storyline is amazing. For example - one of the heroes in Shattered Timelines is Omnitron-X. Omnitron, the evil killer death robot, is rebuilding itself for the 9th time, and decides that the reason that the heroes keep winning is that they have empathy. So in order to gain an edge, Omnitron gives itself an empathy simulator - and is immediately filled with remorse for all the horrible things it has done. So it goes back in time to be a hero and stop the damage that the original Omnitron was doing.

Also, they've been very good at pulling their heroes from a wide variety of ethnicities, nationalities, and circumstances.
