  • I took a chance at being 'editor' to bring together a number of author bits - canon and not - to make the finals we saw in Odds and Ends. I think it worked pretty well - even thought it was a bit of work.

If the cabal gives me permission, I'd like to do that again next fall, when we have the fall term combat finals. of course, I'll have to come up with a 'framework', and I'd have to 'audition' authors to select a few to contribute, but all in all, I think it accomplished what I wanted - it made a hella fun little romp, and it got more ideas than what I'd put in. Some of the contributions spurred my own wacky ideas, and it became a fight to not end up with 35 - 40 finals in a 17-part story.

What do y'all think? Did it work for you as well as my (admittedly biased) viewpoint suggests to me?

  • While I can't very well speak for anyone else, I can say that I certainly enjoyed this approach. It was nice to see such a variety in the story-telling, all meshed together in the overarching framework of trying to discover the security leak.

Of course, I'm a bit biased on this assessment as well, since it gave me (a G2 author) a chance to try my hand with some G1 characters that were really fun to work with. ;)

  • I'm also biased, and I liked it. Having a bit more of a structure to work around would have helped, I noticed a few things in my part that didn't quite match up with most of the other stories (nothing major, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist with finished work).
And I'd be up for doing it again. I wonder how I can torment Pristine some more  , and I have a really cool idea for Tennyo that could make a good short story rather than just a discussion.

  • I think the story went well and all the combat finals seemed to fit. The author group did miss the obvious of having Headrush have to rescue a girl that was going to be sacrificed to an unnamed demon.

  • I liked it, and this type of story is one where multiple styles works really well, since they are multiple stories from multiple people.

  • I agree, I think it worked well on the combat finals. Given all the different students , having multiple viewpoints and styles was a success.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.
