  • An update to Joomla this week seems to interact in an unusual way with the site set up here. As a result, front end site control over category changes seems to have been locked out. And when I say locked out, I mean... even my super-user level account cannot log into the front end and edit a story and change its category. I can publish/unpublish, do other sorts of edits and so on... but I cannot alter categories. And... by extension... neither can anyone else.

Given that our entire publishing pipeline, for both WhatIF AND for canon stories, is based on having this option available to us... I'm obviously going to work on this as a priority... it being backend/admin interface only would not be acceptable given the way we run the site.

In the meantime, and I apologize for the nuissance factor, all category changes are going to need to be put on my desk. So... until I solve the problem, please post those things in this thread. Just give me the name of the story and the stage / category you want it moved to. Such as:

Test Story (Part 2) --> WhatIF - Requesting Feedback
Test Story (Part 1) --> Whateley Independent Fiction (published)

And I will get it moved for you next time I log in.

  • I've implemented some new software, an extension that should solve some of the category control problems we've been having as well as giving us better front end control over publication. For the moment, you SHOULD be able to create and publish stories within the WhatIF - Working category, and when you're ready, move it from there over to the Whateley Independent Fiction category where it will be visible to the public. At some point in the next couple days, I will restore the pipeline categories to give everyone the ability to have a working place, a way to get some feedback, and so on. If there are any specific requests, let me know... but hopefully, this should give you back control of your own publication pipeline... and sorry about the interruptions due to software.
